You haven't said anything about any preferred location for the server, hardware specs, how much bandwidth you need, and how much DDoS protection you think you require, as many places can get you a CISCO firewall, or Netscreen firewall, but something like ProxyShield that can mitigate more than 1gbps will cost you quite a bit per month.

the last time ddos was happened about 3 months plus ago. The attack was very huge at well over 100MB throughput.

To put it simple, you need a provider with good international connectivity. You would probably need a 1gbps port and a CISCO ASA5520 to mitigate any attacks. This will put you up to probably 500$ with a server, depending what kind of hardware configuration you want.

it will depend on your budget.... if you have a budget, get a hardware firewall and if not, a software base will do... check out the offers section and then select within your budget and then ask them regarding your requirements like ddos protection....

A firewall really won't do anything to protect against a DDoS/DoS.

Most any firewall he will get will either be saturated by bandwidth and or not be able to handle the amount of packets per second thrown at him.

How do you know it will get saturated? :) You don't actually have any details on how much actual traffic he gets on a DDoS or how many packets per second he's looking at.

my host said they do not have any tracking for packets per second for the ddos and the traffic is about 150 -200 mb
