To-date, I'm on a problem-free, dedicated server with 2 sites that are both under my sole control.
I usually only update for security upgrades, but 11.23 for cpanel intrigued me..
We aimed at reducing the memory footprint of cPanel with the 11.23 release. Two major changes in this area are VPS Optimized and Tailwatch.Red flag: VPS
..does this mean I get suckered out of less memory footprint because I'm on my own server?
Is there any reason for me to update at this time, or am I better off waiting until a security fix for 11.18 is released?

Not necessarily, it's just that the effects will be more noticeable on a VPS. All of our servers are now running 11.23 and I can't notice any performance increases, but there were a lot of fixes pushed out (a bunch of required ones for FreeBSD!) so the upgrade was worth it.
RoundCube was also officially added into 11.23 and that should be a welcome upgrade to those who didn't install it outside of cPanel before it became part of the various release branches.
As for upgrading, it never hurts to remain current and from what I can tell 11.23 is pretty stable with no obvious bugs, although a release or two before 11.23 was a complete disaster with DNS zones being screwed up. What branch of cPanel are you running anyway, RELEASE or CURRENT?

Also, passwords are blanked out in this version upon new account creation, kinda nice. (STABLE ftw)

The VPS enchancement is certainly a big plus for VPS's as I've used it several times and the RAM has been lowered from 400mb to 300mb.
Also, I just got a dedicated server and I am running the RELEASE branch and everything is working nicely apart from the initial MySQL problem I had which I fixed.
I'm glad they are keeping up to date with RoundCube, had way too much trouble installing it manual and setting the cPanel configuration properly to run with it.

No problems so far with 11.23. We had an issue with RVSkin upgrading for one of our servers, but that resolved quickly with the help of their staff. Otherwise it has been pretty much smooth sailing. 11.23 is on the RELEASE build I believe, should be as stable as it gets.

Well we've encountered two issues with 11.23 (RELEASE) thus far.
- cPanel added the remote mx check which stinks for hosts setting up accounts for clients. Most clients point their domains to the servers after account setup resulting in them being unable to receive mail. cPanel did fix this, but that was after the damage was already done.
- Rvskin broke on every single machine we had and required us to do a manual update using the instructions in the Rvskin forum.

We're using the latest release (11.23.3-R25048) without any major issues.

Thanks everybody, I just updated.
So far my memory usage (according to cpanel) is hovering at 21%, whereas before I updated it was 25-29%
Then again, if a bunch of visitors clicked off it could drop too... time will tell!
Anybody know what "cPanel DAV Daemon" is? I don't recall seeing this in Service Manager before.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Please let us know if any issues are still in the wild so we can get them taken care of.

cPDavd is a WebDAV service which allows you to take advantage of the "Web Disk" feature in cPanel. This allows you to mount a WebDAV folder to your local machine's desktop so you can drag and drop files from your site and edit on the fly without using FTP. You can also use the WebDAV mount to publish your content with Sharepoint, Dreamweaver, etc.
