(after looking at addr.com). (Site is nothing to do with my company and i only came across it when i was looking to see who had similar domains to ours). Cheers - Mark Samuel 08-26-2002, 12:10 AM www.method5.com always been my favorite. Acroplex 08-26-2002, 12:28 AM Originally posted by Samuel www.method5.com always been my favorite. Looks like an Nvidia rip-off (their older version, that is). Samuel 08-26-2002, 12:30 AM It's no rip =) btw, I remember the old nvidia site, and it looks nothing like this one. Why did you post that eh? Acroplex 08-26-2002, 12:52 AM Same color scheme (gray, green) same "cutting edge" look. Samuel 08-26-2002, 12:56 AM I made it, nothing ripped about it =) It went through 26 revisions, and every pixel is custom, and the entire layout is custom, css, php, everything from scratch. Acroplex 08-26-2002, 12:57 AM Ahhhhhh.................. :D (goes back to reading about TimPD in that monster thread) markblair 08-26-2002, 01:23 AM Site5 (http://www.site5.com) has a nice design. Acroplex 08-26-2002, 01:26 AM Originally posted by markblair Site5 (http://www.site5.com) has a nice design. Yeah but check out their logo and then this archived site (http://web.archive.org/web/19980208011847/http://www.leading.net/) Samuel 08-26-2002, 01:29 AM No kidding! Which reminds me, isn't it odd how your nickname here is very similiar to what happens when I pull the little thing on the side of my watch and twist it! Acroplex 08-26-2002, 01:31 AM Too bad, it's a registered trademark. Now you have to pay me every time you mess with your watch :D markblair 08-26-2002, 01:32 AM Originally posted by timechange Yeah but check out their logo and then this archived site (http://web.archive.org/web/19980208011847/http://www.leading.net/) It's similar. I've seen other sites that have a very similar logo as Site5's but in my opinion, it's not that hard to come up with something like that. I know they've had the same logo for quite some time themselves... Acroplex 08-26-2002, 01:34 AM Actually it's not a good idea to use a shoosh anymore. Search for "Shoosh hell" in the forums and you'll get a link :D Neo3Net 08-26-2002, 10:33 AM I like http://isprime.com but it is very simple compared to rackfast and other hosts. But still, its nice. Bannaz 08-26-2002, 11:38 AM I like Dot5Hosting's new design. :) Aralanthir 08-26-2002, 11:45 AM Originally posted by Neo3Net I like http://isprime.com but it is very simple compared to rackfast and other hosts. But still, its nice. Well, I'll agree that it's a very nice site, but it doesn't seem that "simple" to me with all that flash work done on it. ned patter 08-26-2002, 12:12 PM Originally posted by Aralanthir Well, I'll agree that it's a very nice site, but it doesn't seem that "simple" to me with all that flash work done on it. It doesn't quite fit with 800X600. Neo3Net 08-26-2002, 12:17 PM Looks fine at 800x600. Hmmmm combs 08-26-2002, 12:25 PM I like www.addr.com Gary King 08-26-2002, 05:08 PM Hm several people have said RackFast, but they've got music on their site.. and personally, I don't like it when there is music in the background while surfing sites (unless it is my own music, of course  ) citrus 08-26-2002, 05:13 PM I like hostway.com RackFive 08-26-2002, 05:16 PM hostway.com has a really nice design, i like it too :) Binx 08-26-2002, 07:06 PM I like http://www.swishmail.com/ clean and simple:) KDAWebServices 08-26-2002, 07:27 PM I shan't make any comment about having swoosh'y logos :) I don't like sites with music in them, they anoy me and take too long to download for some pointless junk sound that someone else thinks I should like because I'm visiting their site - and pixelbrick, your choice in music sucks big time :) markcastle 08-26-2002, 08:02 PM Originally posted by KDAWebServices I shan't make any comment about having swoosh'y logos :) I don't like sites with music in them, they anoy me and take too long to download for some pointless junk sound that someone else thinks I should like because I'm visiting their site - and pixelbrick, your choice in music sucks big time :) There is nothing worse than being in an office full of people when all of a sudden music starts blaring out - personally i just shut the site and don't go back to it. Gary King 08-26-2002, 08:23 PM Originally posted by markcastle There is nothing worse than being in an office full of people when all of a sudden music starts blaring out - personally i just shut the site and don't go back to it. My point exactly  Neo3Net 08-27-2002, 12:12 AM Note to self. Music pisses People off Neo3Net 08-27-2002, 12:13 AM I also like my design. But I think you would have to be very stupid to not like your own design LOL Jedito 08-27-2002, 12:20 AM I requested to my designer to turn the music off as default, if you want to turn it on, you can do it though Neo3Net 08-27-2002, 12:29 AM Then again, who doesn't surf with headphones. Jedito 08-27-2002, 12:41 AM I don't surf with headphones, water tend to broke it (sorry I couldn't stand) :D Aplusmedia 08-27-2002, 12:57 AM i dont think theres a best desgin, but a few that i really like are fastwebsites.com rackfast.com mediatemple.net dominet.net hostpacket and hostrocket a few others i can remember of.. KDAWebServices 08-27-2002, 04:14 AM I don't know many people that do surf with headphones on, in fact come to think of it, I don't know anyone who does. It's one of the very early rules of web design, sound is a no-no. Like most other people I just close the site and never go back, the only music I want coming from my PC is the CD I'm playing. markcastle 08-27-2002, 06:08 AM It's the main gripe i have with all the (otherwise) fantastic pixelbrick sites too. I don't know anyone that uses headphones. CritticAge 08-27-2002, 06:53 AM I personaly like all or most of the PixelBrick designs. Too the people that said said they do not like music - PixelBrick normaly makes the flash header not load...you have to click Replay. Also, they do not really have a bad choice of music, the flash animations fit into the music. Eg. DownTownHost - I like their design, but when the flash starts playing, there is nothing too catch your attention in the way of sound. kshego 08-27-2002, 07:03 AM Id have to say www.*****.com CritticAge 08-27-2002, 07:26 AM www.*****.com must be good! :stickout citrus 08-27-2002, 07:41 AM http://mchost.com http://mediatemple.net battman21 08-27-2002, 10:42 AM http://www.webarama.com.au Gary King 08-27-2002, 11:13 AM Originally posted by Neo3Net Note to self. It's one of the very early rules of web design, sound is a no-no. Like most other people I just close the site and never go back, the only music I want coming from my PC is the CD I'm playing. Well sometimes I surf with headphones, don't ask why or anything  Also, it would be best if you could choose to turn on the sound, instead of having to turn it off :) Neo3Net 08-27-2002, 04:24 PM I always surf with headphones...Well used to. At home when we used to have only one computer. I had to have headphones because it was in the kitchen where people would always be bothered by the sounds. But now at home I bought myself a computer for the room so I don't use headphones. But come to think of it I do hate when I have my music playing and some flash thing interupts it and makes a nasty mix :( Thanks RackFive 08-27-2002, 04:53 PM its easy: if dont like flash sites with music, just dont visit i!!! Jedito 08-27-2002, 05:06 PM Originally posted by CritticAge Eg. DownTownHost - I like their design, but when the flash starts playing, there is nothing too catch your attention in the way of sound. I requested to the designer to turn the music off as default, you can turn it on if you want, but we received a couple of complains about the music. So, I decided to change that :) KDAWebServices 08-27-2002, 05:06 PM Well that says a lot about what are considered good designs then, because if you alienate people who don't like the damn music interupting them (there are a lot) then it's obviously not a good design. markcastle 08-27-2002, 07:27 PM Originally posted by RackFive its easy: if dont like flash sites with music, just dont visit i!!! So how do you know the site has music UNTIL you visit? Site5-Rod 09-01-2002, 07:05 AM Yes, I designed the swoosh in like 2 minutes. But it stuck because its simple and very easy to work with in a design. Originally, I created it because it looks kinda like an "S" and kinda like a "5". That's the real idea behind it. If it resembles any other companies, its merely out of coincidence, and the fact that we really have no need for a complicated logo. Next incarnation of our site, I promise a flash-animated rotating 3D ball of a logo. Look out. Oh, and it will play new wave hits. Now we're talking. hosthero 09-01-2002, 08:56 AM wow some companies here have great designs! Global-Host2 09-01-2002, 03:04 PM Does anyone like our new design? http://g-hosting.net/test ? geografx 09-01-2002, 03:12 PM Yes i think its very nice!! i like the detail you have put into the outer frame. just 2 things i would consider doing .... 1. center the template on the page so it's not all the way over to the left for people with large screens. 2. change the color fo the cost/month to a blue to make it stand out and let people see that your rates are very reasonable!! barbara |
