View Full Version : Why Not TemplateMonster?
emoryarts 05-29-2008, 07:09 PM Soon, I'll be in the business of creating some templates and doing my best to sell them here. I took notice and there is a fair amount of business in selling templates. My one concern is, at the average price of $100/per coded template, why aren't people re-directed towards TemplateMonster's products, which are relatively half that price? Is it due to the reselling issue? Another unknown factor? I'd like to grasp such info before attempting to start creating templates.
MichelleH 05-29-2008, 07:32 PM Personally.. I don't want a template anyone else can get. I get all mine custom made.
Jorge05r 05-29-2008, 07:53 PM Custom templates are much more professional and unique, just make sure the custom design will be worth the money you're paying for.
If you're paying a web designer the same amount you'll be paying for a template monster, and the custom design it's not as good as the template monster, then it is not worth.
Even if you get decide to buy the template at template monster and want it not to be downloaded/available by anyone else, the prices range around (Unique Price:$2000) and it'll be just the template, no coding.
A web designer would charge less than half price of a unique template at template monster.

TemplateMonster provides both PSD and HTML for most (if not all) of their templates. I have used a few in the past. My only major knock is the poor quality of the HTML code they produce. Tons of non-standard crud and such.
If you want standards-compliant code, be prepared to spend time cleaning up what they give you.

Completely agree with you, I forgot about the html files but as you said it's a ton of non-standard code.
totonet 05-30-2008, 01:26 AM I also think is best to get a custome template, so you can get a unic site design. Feels bad when you wallk arround and you see a site just like yours.
Ultralite 05-30-2008, 12:21 PM Yes, like some of you said, need a unique design and after using templatemonster for a few times i feel it's more of a rough job. Adding to that, you don't want to see 10 other people with the same template as you.

I agree with you here. Very true.
wedoxhtml 06-02-2008, 08:52 AM I do customization of template monster template 5-6 times, every time I found very poor quality xhtml, they use inline style much and more then css style sheet, that I really don't like because we have to do xhtml from design using slice image.
UK Hosters 06-03-2008, 03:23 AM I do agree that I'd prefer my to be custom made, saying that, TemplateMonster do offer good templates and good prices.
jerett 06-06-2008, 01:38 PM Often times people purchase templates because they are on a fixed budget or feel it's a quick way to get up and going quickly.
These same people find that even though they purchase a template, they still need to have some skill to manipulate the template and code to match their company as templates are made generically and don't represent any company 100%.
You would probably be surprised to find how many people that purchase templates would try and persuade you away from it as they generally end up paying for design work shortly after.
Everyone is different just like every company is different and it is hard for a template to express this without coming across looking and feeling like a template.
If your on a limited budget and need a "place holder" until your design budget picks up, then I would recommend them.
zakpatel 06-11-2008, 05:48 PM There is no doubt Template Monster has quality designed templates but the prices are quite high for exclusive rights. I always recommend having custom designs as it’s really suits your criteria and create an special presentation which no one has except you.

best 4 you
minneola24 06-16-2008, 11:30 AM Templatemonster has great templates, but totenet is right, if you see someone else with the same website, it would be awkward, especially because it will probably be the same type of business.
