I have one of these $99.95 dedicated servers with Burst.net. I've had it for about 1.5 months now. All I can say is that I definately am going to stick with them. Well I kinda have to because it is a 6 month contract on this special. But atleast I had 30 days to evaluate the server before comitting, cause they have that 30 day money back policy. What I am saying though is that Burst.net has provided really great service to me, even though I only have their cheapest server. I have not had a single minute of downtime yet (I am in their new data center though) and their support guys seem pretty friendly. One of their admins who works on the control panel software has been quite helpful in showing me the ropes. I'd give them a try. You can't really loose with that 30 day guarantee. They refund setup fees too if you cancel.

arcadia,

What is your URL? I would like to test the speed of their new network in their new NOC.

I'm not saying anything about Burst.net I don't know anything abobt them and have no need to.

I want to address the issue of guarantees and putting faith in them. They are no more good than the company behind them. If you overlook that simple fact, you can lose.

We've seen posts here from people who have discovered that fact. Still others spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get their money back.

I'd advise people not to base a decision on a guarantee.

Update: Several of our sites have been running at BurstNET's T1, and are due to be moved to the new NOC in April:

http://AletiaHosting.com/
http://ActivLabs.com/

The network has been pretty smooth for the past month, and tech support is now apparently much better than what's been reported earlier.

Will keep you guys updated regarding the move.

Please note that these are all hosted in our Bloomsburg PA USA Sales/Support office...not in our new data center in Scranton PA USA. The new Scranton data center does not open until April. So don't go by the speeds of these sites...they are only on our T1 test line..even though they are still decently fast. Once the new data center opens, DS3 connectivity will be in effect, and the speed will increase dramatically.

I've been wondering that myself. So far arcadia has posting his glowing review on just about every forum I can think of, and never once has a URL been mentioned, even though being asked several times. For someone so devoted to selling Burst, you'd think he(she) would at least slip in a plug for their own site - even as a sig.

node9: I can't really even dignify that with a response. All I can state is that BurstNET™ has survived the hosting industry almost 5 years now, we have 12 employees (with an average age of 25-27) including more technical staff than most hosts that frequent these forums; including the lead developer of Cpanel™/WebHostManager™, J.Nick Koston (our senior systems administrator). We have grown large enough to build/warrant our own data center, with the technical knowledge of how to do so. A large percentage of the BurstNET™ staff have 4 year college degrees, and several have MBA degrees in business. BurstNET™ has been in business just months shy of a decade now, making it one of the oldest companies in the web hosting industry (we began web hosting almost 5 years ago)...with most hosting companies being started within the last 2-4 years. BurstNET™ is also currently applying for the INC 500 "Fastest Growing Companies in America" list, of which our sales/profit numbers, coupled on top of growth rate, make us eligible. If you believe that we do not know what we are doing, I challenge you to do better.
