I have only installed phpMyAdmin once.. does it do the following..

Can i install it globally so its first page is a login screen, the user puts in there database, user, pass and it connects them to that database to modify.. or do i have to install a user specific version everytime someone wants ot use phpmyadmin..

Is there any other MySQL management scripts (free) which i can simply install once and give all my hosting customers with databases access to ? (like a webmail script)

Try Here: http://www.anse.de/mysqlfront/ I used on networked PCs. It might be for Windows only though....

Yes you can use phpmyadmin for several users with one copy. I could go on and on explaining how, but rather I'll give a link - http://phpmyadmin.sourceforge.net/documentation/#setup especially read "Using authentication modes" part at top.

Just choose the "html" login system and don't enter a password or username, it should then ask for them.
