I run a calculator game site (www.calcgames.org) and we quickly outgrew our host's 50 MB storage limit and now we need suggestions as to where we should get hosted now. We'll need 500 MB storage, 20 GB bandwidth/month, with servers that are VERY FAST on REQUESTS as well as actual up/down stream speed. my site's homepage has about 40 seperate small files which includes many pictures and frames, so fast on requests is very important... it'll also have to be a reliable server that _IS_ up 99.5% of the time... right now we are looking at powweb (only 250 MB storage but we can still see what we can do with that)

anyone have any suggestions for preferably less expensive hosts? (<$12/month)

Barrett.. let me just say something (although a new one may say I'm biased) but please please please do not select powweb. In fact, I would direct you to use the "SEARCH" button on the top right of this window to do a search on powweb to see some nasty word of mouth. :)

And for what you are looking for, for the budget you requested, you may have a hard time finding something secure and durable.. although I'm not saying you won't find any. THE BEST THING TO DO is that AFTER you found someone, to please do a search in this forum to find the word of mouth. Also keep in mind, that every host probably has some dirt on 'em so don't take everything at face value.

GOOD LUCK! :)

well, i aint one to throw stones, but i just checked out the site and it had a slow time showing itself (does that help?). Perhaps it's just a peak time? Anyhoot, just be sure to look and see if they'll give you your $$ back if you dont like em and TO POST HERE with some feedback! :) There's probably 10 thousand web hosting companies out there and only 2-300 listed ones here. Go figure.

Don't know much about Spenix as a company, however it's owned by Matt who used to own WebHostingTalk, before selling it to RackShack a couple of months ago :)

you could try posting your requirements in the requests forum and see if a host can meet your needs.
