I've done shoutcasting from my home system before on several occasions. I've had a few requests concerning shoutcast services, but I'm not sure what I would need to offer it as a product to consumers. I've tried doing some research, however I have yet to come across anything remotely concise. So...

1) Is there a control panel, similar to cPanel or Plesk, that simplifies station management for a customer?

2) Any service specific necessities?

Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction for relevant information I would greatly appreciate it.

You may wish to look into Cast-Control (www.cast-control.net (http://www.cast-control.net)) or, SCPanel. (www.scpanel.com (http://www.scpanel.com)) *Just noticed SCPanel has been acquired by Racked Hosting.*
Both are good ShoutCast server control panels.


2) Any service specific necessities?


You should have a dedicated bandwidth line, as ShoutCast uses alot of bandwidth, very steady and very fast.

CentovaCast is another control panel you might want to look at.

Are you planning on hosting these streams from home? They're very bandwidth hungry..

One thing you can consider about cast-control that could be beneficial to you. They offer a hosted service that can get you up and going quite easily, without having to get a separate server, etc.

1. Dont get scpanel castcontrol is much better. You can trust MATT to get he job done right.

2. You will Need very good bandwidth so there wont be any buffering any where in the world.

I agree Matt is great with cast control!

You could always look at getting a shoutcast reseller from someone too. This of course depends on how many people you want to host.

You can get whmsonic which is an addon for cpanel (u must have both)
