View Full Version : CreLoaded
Darren E 05-22-2008, 08:33 PM Has anyone used CreLoaded shopping cart?
Apparently it's OSCommerce with 75 feature rich plug-ins but I have yet to hear of anybody who uses it so far.
If you use it, please explain it's advantages or disadvantages.
jerett 05-22-2008, 09:36 PM Well - from what I can see - a lot of people tend to be leaving behind the oscommerce movement and going after other carts like magenta. This might be worth looking into.
Darren E 05-23-2008, 09:28 AM Thanks Jerett,
Are you referring to http://www.magentocommerce.com/ ?
This seems like a nice cart system but it also seems relatively new with a few quirks that need to be ironed out but pretty powerful stuff to say the least.
What I need is:
Total layout control in CSS.
Exportable sales reports (CSV ?)
Most carts provide the rest of what I need...
unity100 05-23-2008, 09:48 AM we have set up and are continually servicing a number of creloaded stores. it makes up for many missing stuff oscommerce has. but on the other hand, those missing stuff may or may not be what you exactly need. one tidbit is oscommerce modules may need modification to work with creloaded. but then again its doubtful that you will need to get many modules installed. and once installed you use them for 1-2 years before updating the module.
as for oscommerce, its still a script with a growing userbase. we also get quote requests for migrating into oscommerce from other carts. its generally due to the immense number of modules, modifications etc available to osc userbase. and also almost every payment, shipping companies know and support oscommerce. its a legitimate name with ups, usps, etc etc.
bithost(NET) 05-23-2008, 11:05 PM I redeployed my shop's site on to CRELoaded and it was a nightmare. A lot of things were broken and never worked... not the least of which were the USPS shipping module, additional boxes in the menu, additional pages ........ It was one thing after another.
Finally after 5 months of trying to make it work (and a Christmas holiday that was just one Huge Nightmare thanks to CRE) I switched the site over to ZenCart and everything's been great since then.
In my experience, CRE is broken bloatware. If the majority of what you need can be done with ZenCart, just use that. The coding is cleaner and it works...
:D Bailey
gcorpz 05-30-2008, 04:16 PM pretty good but it's hard to find support for it. oscommerce is easier to find support for.
bigd39 05-30-2008, 06:15 PM I have to totally agree creloaded is a broken bloatware. I am moving a client of mine to interchange. Interchange is a very power
application server design around e-commerce. I am new to it but from what I have seen so far I like it.
Tooonyg 05-31-2008, 08:37 AM Pretty much CRE loaded is like OS commerce on steroids... alot more options withs CRE Loaded i done alot of OS conmmerce and finally went to CRE loaded.
alex-developer 05-31-2008, 03:02 PM I bet you that half of these 75 rich plug-ins you will never use... :D
djgizmo 06-08-2008, 12:10 PM I personally use CREloaded for my site. It's been slightly modified, but CRELoaded works very well IF #1 - you're moving from a simple OS commerce site, or #2 You begin your business from CRELoaded from the get go. They have an ACTIVE member forum where other members contribute and help out, as well as a pay for support business.
Personally, I don't see the OS Commerce model lasting long (5 years from now) if newer and better code isn't released. This includes Zencart too.

There are no disadvantages, I have been using it for 2 years!
mrphp 06-08-2008, 02:42 PM We've been using CRE for 2 years and we're happy using it.
I rather recommend CRE than OSC or Magento (What a very slow and the users are blind and keep over rating it)
Just try and you'll loveit.
Darren E 06-09-2008, 02:21 PM Magento is currently a little on the slow side but after working with it for a few weeks figuring it out - it's quite a powerful application.
They are close to releasing 1.1 which is supposed to fix the slow speed issue.
mrphp 06-09-2008, 02:26 PM Yeah hopefully as I also want to use it but its kinda frustrating when I used it 5 days ago. I hope they will fix that issue coz I love the features of that shopping cart but it doesnt make any sense if it is too slow and it requires a high servers to use it.
alex-developer 06-11-2008, 12:54 PM There are no disadvantages, I have been using it for 2 years!
I simply don't believe that. As normally all software's (except specifically written for client) have advantages and disadvantages.
livinbig 06-17-2008, 05:05 PM Hopefully Magento 1.1 the new release will speed things up. It looks like a very powerfull shopping cart system.
fun2fun 06-18-2008, 09:40 AM cre-loade is ok if you only need what is included...othervise oscommerce or zencart is better alternatives....
Magneto i still to resource demanding and slow to be of use for those using a standard shared hosting plan.
cdgcommerce 06-18-2008, 09:35 PM Prior to this thread, I had not heard any negative comments about CREloaded. From what I have seen, we have had some merchants who mentioned they were using it and everything seemed to work just fine.
It does seem like Magento is gaining quite a following online so that is definitely a solution to look at. I think that there is validity about it being resource intensive as one of our IT folks pointed that out to me the other day but that isn't to say that it isn't a solid solution.

you right with that... I am sure there would be a nice open source web2.0 shopping cart. However, CRE Loaded does come with some nice features that my clients ask for.
expitrans 06-20-2008, 06:40 PM Several of our clients have indicated that they use CRELoaded and we haven't heard anything negative.

livinbig 06-21-2008, 06:23 PM I have heard several postive things about creloaded.
