i got a dual server in some company , there was problem in OS setup , and it shows only one proccessor ( in boot you see dual ) , now my server crashes way TOO much, is the problem of OS recognizes only one proccessor might be the reason for that ? or you think it shold work fine ( but with 1 proccessor captebility )

First off...

What are the chips?
What is the OS?
What is the BIOS?
What is the Mobo(Brand/Model)?

Does the BIOS recognize both chips?
Does the OS support a dual-chipset?
Has it always been like this (since you built/bought it)?
--> If not? When did it start happening?
--> If so? Have you checked the jumper settings on the Mobo to see if they are right?

Is it 1u? May be overheating...?

Most of the time you will have a single cpu kernal and a dual cpu kernel. Make sure you are booting into the correct one. Even going into single, during bootup it will still show two cpu's...but only use one.

If that's not it, check your boot logs. I'd bet the OS was compiled for single cpu only if you "dont" have two kernels.

and this may cuase the server to crash ?

the server is 2U , i dont think this is an heating problem ..

I've no idea ATM , is it possibale to check these remotly ? or i need to ask my provider ?

yes it shows both proccessors on boot ( if this was the question)

Its RH 7.2 , supposed to support both proccessors , but something went worng is setup and only shows one ..

the server worked well for the previos owner ( this isnt a new server) but since i got it it does many problems...
