View Full Version : Some positive comment about FDCservers

I'm just posting here to show my thanks to FDCservers for a technical issue they just handled. I just contacted them stating my server seemed to have hung (it was still pingable, but everything else was down) and requested a reboot. This request was answered within about 3 minutes. About 5 minutes after this they sent me an email stating the server had been rebooted, but the situation hadn't changed so they were having a tech look at it. About 15 minutes after this they had resolved the issue and gotten my server back fully up and running.

I know FDC has had issues with its tech support in the past, but it seems like they are working on it, as I found this mighty impressive. On top of this, all customers will be getting a remote reboot switch soon to boot :)

Also, for the first time my support request wasn't answered by Petr, but by some friendly fellow named Josh, which would suggest to me Petr has hired some extra staff for the support department.

A long term satisfied customer.

Are they stable enough to host sites now? :)

i wouldn't host important things there, but for personal, not very important, needs it's more than fine and cheap! :)

Are they stable enough to host sites nowI've just started a free hosting service on my server there. Got about 60 sites on at the moment and everything is going smoothly. I just hope it stays this way, but I have high hopes it will :)

We are along with saburovo the biggest partner of FDC and based a lot of our operations there. We wouldn't have done that if the place wasn't worth the trouble ;)

i too am quite quite happy with my fdc box. early going there were some troubles, but, with the additions of these new lines everything is going quite quite smooth. my pings from europe are wonderful.

once the yipes line is in place (soon i hear?) i definitely think it will be one of the best offers available as long as more connectivity is added before/when needed.

they never really had issues with their technical support... its just their network that leaves a lot to be desired...

their network had issues, but, i'd say they're doing much better now and should be improving shortly.

the trouble you seem to be having from the last few traceroutes i read was that hop from mfnx > cogent's peering on the above/mfnx network. a quick pop of an email over to cogent and/or above's tech support should get it investigated. i've had good results twice in the past from emailing cogent's support directly about an issue.

I think once enough revenue is generated, for Petr to hire some more employees (network admins, hopefully) and become multi-homed, they will become a decent company (in regards to quality of service)

i completely agree with you clockwork. and i hope it does become a reality soon. and hopefully they'll keep those shell hosters in check.
