Hi - anyone have suggestions for software to send alerts when traffic goes above expected?

- total transfer, plus over Xmbps for x seconds would be great... Per site and per server would be ideal.

The tools I've found so far will monitor CPU load etc, but not data transfer..

Thanks in advance :)

put a snort box in your network in promiscuous mode, it;ll catch al lpackets.. ive setup something like automatically writes the average to a mysql database per minute for IPs that I want to watch.

If the bandwidth goes up significantly, it starts writing it every 5 seconds. You can set your program to alert you.

Also there is a hardware appliance by allot, which sucks in my opinion, but it gives a graphical representation of your traffic. Very ugly blue java client, but it works.

Thanks for the tip...
Are you able to post any more details on your configuration?
