View Full Version : Paypal going crazy !!!!!!!!!
glace 05-17-2008, 11:50 AM Right now I have several customers complaining about Paypal. They are paying me via Paypal subscription payments. Now the funny thing is Paypal is sending them hundreds of emails confirming they have sent a payment to me. There appears to be a bug in their system. Also the affected payments can not be allocated to the subscriptions... I just see a payment and a transaction ID and I see that it was a subscription payment but the subscription is not mentioned on the page as it would be usually.
Is anyone else having similar issues ? This is really insane. I am losing customers due to this. Of course Paypal's support doesn't give a damn sending standard replys.
[LRC]Lloyd 05-18-2008, 08:03 AM We've not receiving any complaints about Paypal subscriptions, everything seems fine.
Although, a few days ago 3 subscription payment's went through without sending us any e-mail confirmation, luckily we check Paypal daily anyway.
Regards
glace 05-18-2008, 08:05 AM Now I have several transactions that can not be assigned to subscription IDs. Paypal has a database issue. Of course they sent me ****ing ******** standard replys. These guys are so disgusting !
[LRC]Lloyd 05-18-2008, 08:09 AM DB Issue's?
We have subscription payments due within the next 1-2 hours.
I'll keep you updated.
marcbarak 05-18-2008, 10:57 AM We have over a hundred clients using PayPal on their site and we have not heard of a single problem
DephNet[Paul] 05-18-2008, 11:17 AM http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/05/17/paypal_ipn_meltdown/ Has more details.
From what I gather it is an IPN upgrade gone wrong, not database issues.
Paul
I've been getting subcription payment recites every 15 minuets for the last 2 days for the same thing to DirectAdmin so something is definitely wrong
VN-Ken 05-18-2008, 12:00 PM I use the PayPal Security Key, and it seems that this is also messed up. You can only enter the Security Code with the password. And I usually just say I don't have my security key and enter in a financial account, which comes back and says it cannot be in Chinese characters or something to that effect.
I tried to login today, but it looks like they fixed this issue now however for the last few days it has been doing this.
never had problem with subscription, but their randomized account checking makes crazy, in 2 month got 4 times account limited
peruviantalk 05-18-2008, 01:40 PM I couldn't send money to someone yesterday for two times. I stopped trying after the 2nd because I had instances like these before where I send money but it doesn't show till later on.
HOPEFULLY those didn't process.
cmimrie 05-18-2008, 06:00 PM I'm getting a tad miffed, every time I place license requests with Directadmin it sends me to a 'page not found' PayPal branded page.
It doesn't send IPN notifications to DA so I have to manually email them for activation.
Funny thing is, they still manage to take the funds, just not notify the recipient that they've got the cash.
madhatter349 05-18-2008, 06:41 PM What was paypals response?
cmimrie 05-18-2008, 06:42 PM The 'PayPal Dev' site, if it's an official one that is, says it's been resolved.
Although even trying to make payments now shows the glitch, so obviously it's not fixed.
*crosses fingers*
This hasn't hit us yet either, and I can only hope that it wont.
It would cause a riot of emails.
glace 05-19-2008, 09:14 AM If you have problems please contact Paypal and send them a message. The more people try to get through to them the higher the chance that one of their staff members will actually forward the ticket to the right department rather than sending a stupid standard reply telling you how to look at the details of a subscription.
These are the problems I have right now:
- Many transactions can no longer be connected with the subscription they belong to - therefore my billing system is no longer reliable...this means until they fix this I can not cancel overdue services - I can not find out who paid me for what.
- Many customers have reported that they are receiving confimations for payments sent to me several hundred times.
MichelleH 05-19-2008, 09:19 AM I haven't had any complaints but I personally have gotten about 50 emails saying my bank account has been verified... which actually happened about 2 years ago.
yeh paypal has gone nuts same problem for me aswell!
marcbarak 05-19-2008, 01:04 PM now we have clients complaining that the system is requiring a paypal account instead of letting the clients pay for their bill with no acct and just using a credit card
David 05-19-2008, 01:15 PM No issues here.
*knocks on wood*
glace 05-22-2008, 03:08 PM We are still having this issue. Since I opened this thread my customers have been receiving an email confirming their payments every few minutes. Their system is unable to connect the payments with subscription IDs which means that I am currently unable to bill customers that are behind on payment since my billing system has become unreliable with the missing information in Paypal's CSV files !
[LRC]Lloyd 05-22-2008, 03:12 PM Everything is fine our end. Nothing to report, New and Existing Subscription payments ok, as well as Manual/Instant payments.
Hope it stays this way. :)
Just to check, you have tried to phone Paypal haven't you?
marcbarak 05-22-2008, 03:57 PM We are no longer receiving ANY complaints from our clients re Paypal
All seems back to normal
VN-Ken 05-22-2008, 06:24 PM Everything is back to normal on our end as well.
Just to check, you have tried to phone Paypal haven't you?
That's what I was going to say. If it's such a critical issue why would you email them when you know they will take days to reply + stupid responses....
