Hi there,

Does anybody know whether Namecheap will be offering CC processing for endusers of their resellers in their new reseller program?

Thanks,

F

"We are publishing this API to soon allow you to signup as a proper reseller. For now, you can use the API to integrate your order processing into the NameCheap system closely. API doesn't cover all our products yet, but more products will be added incrementally. At this time, we are phasing out the Unified Registrar reseller program (which is independent of the API as of now) and would encourage everyone who would like to resell to get the API enabled and do the reselling that way using their own system."

It's a HUGE jump from being a reseller (dependent on the provider to handle all the little details) to a full registrar.

Namecheap has a pretty good reputation right now, so I hope they are able to make that leap without falling too many times. (I expect at least one tumble -- that's just normal business.)

If they have decent pricing and service, we might consider them as a reseller provider. (We currently use eNom.)

However, I would be *very* leery for the first year or so, since we all remember RegisterFly, right? They were the last "up and coming" eNom reseller who started offering their own reseller program.. and then ended up screwing their customers.

Let's hope namecheap has learned from RegisterFly's huge mistakes, and has planned things out better.

Hello Guys,

I thought I'd drop in and give a little bit of an update here. While new registrations are still flowing through enom, all new registrations are being managed through our own dns system and servers. We are monitoring everything and making tweaks here and there to insure the stability of our systems when we "flip the switch" so to speak.

Honestly, other than a few minor bugs here and there everything has been going smoothly. We've got a good group of developers that are very thorough so you can trust that there won't be many issues once we do make the switch.

Regarding our pricing, it will at the very least match enom's. We also have some new features being added to our dns as well as an entire re-seller platform with many products on the way. We have created all of this on our own from the ground up and are not using a pre-made solution such as logic boxes.

Mr. Zippy, if you look at the history of registerfly, they had issues with their support before they even made the switch. I remember all the complaints very clearly. The problems they went through after they were accredited were mostly due to them forcing transfers and also some personal issues with their manangement and ceo.

We are the same company we've always been and will continue to provide the same standard of service now and into the future. You have my word on that.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your clarification.

Can you also inform me regarding my opening post?

Also, when will the Reseller program be live?

Thanks,

F

That's aweseome! Based on your reputation alone, you should gain a lot of resellers.

We'll definately check things out once you launch as we're always interested in change and being sure we're using the right provider for what we do. eNom has been pretty good for us, but I'm not averse to checking out new services and changing if it's warranted.

I've been impressed over the years with how you've started and managed namecheap into a very reputable company in an extremely difficult and competitive environment.

I'm definately looking forward to your reseller program launch. :agree:

(Is there a mailing list we can sign up at?)

From within your NameCheap account you can subscribe to the mailing list. Also check our forums.

However, we'll be making big announcements about this. It won't fly under the radar.

I'm a happy namecheap customer too, though I only signed up a few months ago. If I decide to resell domains, namecheap would be my choice. It's good to see namecheap staff posting here :)

Yes, let's hope. Besides being a very satisfied Namecheap customer, I fled to them from RegisterFly. I'd hate to go through that again!

Hello Fattee,

A reseller solution that includes CC processing as well as support is currently in the works. I don't have a specific eta on that as of this point.

Hello,

Richard is the one who can answer this but he is at the ICANN meeting in Paris at the minute. I'll point him in the direction of this thread.

Hopefully Namecheap support isn't as "fast" as the reactions here...

This isn't necessarily a namecheap support forum. If you have specific questions, direct them directly at namecheap via their communication avenues available on their website. :D

Thanks for pointing that out. I never said it was supposed to be a Namecheap support forum. However, since Namecheap has reacted before and according to the last post made by mdrussel one would expect a reaction.
