I just started using it, and it works well for word processing. Staroffice is now not available for free download anymore. Openoffice is another alternative, but I don't know much about it. Mark tqhostnig.com goodness0001 08-23-2002, 02:17 PM I am messing around with mandrake right now, and i think it is hard to get things configured. I think i am going to stick with redhat because it is easier for me to manipulate and find the right packages. akashik 08-23-2002, 11:35 PM openoffice is pretty good - I actually prefer it to Star Office. KOffice is ok as well - not as flashy as the others in my opinion. Gets the job done though. Greg Moore combs 08-24-2002, 12:07 PM OpenOffice is good for linux. It is easier to use too. ubergeek22 08-24-2002, 12:10 PM www.openoffice.org is the free version of Star Office (sans some components due to licensing), so not that much difference? akashik 08-24-2002, 12:21 PM yes pretty much. I just prefer open office's look though. :) Greg Moore goodness0001 09-09-2002, 10:55 PM When i use open office i get all sorts of errors when trying to save files etc...i dont have the linux os right in front of me right now to tell you what they were but i know it didnt save any sort of files and then closed the program. |
