What is the best payment gateway out to date ?

As far as I know Authorize.net is suppose to be the top one.

I think the best one are: PayPal & Google Checkout.

PayPal is very popular.

Google Checkout the easiest way for clients to checkout, no hassle filling forms everywhere.

Neither of those are "payment Gateways"

1) They are payment gateways, as the people can pay to you via their payment gateway.

2) PayPal provide merchant services.

3) You are confused about "3rd part processors" and "merchants", as both of them can be "payment gateways".

1 - They both use payment gateways, paypal is not a payment gateway. That is the equivalent to saying chase is a bank account.

2 - They do provide merchant services, and if you get their payments pro, you also get to use their payment gateway. So you are saying with paypal i van get a payment gateway for my payment gateway?

3 - Im really not. 3rd party processors, are companies that can process credit cards for "merchants" i didn't know wal-mart could be a payment gateway?

Authorize.net is overrated. It's known, everything integrates, but it can be a real pain... and, yes, we use it.

I happen to like usaepay much better, though.

CyberSource is probably the most reliable and has many high volume merchants, but it's a bit more expensive than most of the others.

I don't think there's anything amazing about authorize.net. I used them for 4 years or so; I've just switched to the free gateway CDGCommerce provides, Quantum Gateway.

In general it's less polished than authorize.net, but supports all the same features PLUS it includes a bunch of value-adds (free recurring processing, card vault, and quite impressively free maxmind anti-fraud scores). In general anything that supports authorize.net supports it as well via its emulation mode.

We also use CDGCommerce.com and just recently switched from authorize.net to www.quantumgateway.com.

So far, we have not really noticed any difference except now we do not pay ANY gateway fees. :)

(We're using the authorize.net emulation mode on the quantum gateway, and it is working very well.)

A++ to CDGCommerce for offering such a great value-added service to their customers. :)

I would like to put the third vote in for quantum gateway..

We too use CDGCommerce and the support is great, low costs, no gateway fees.

The features listed above are nice, and also Authorize.net users can easily make the switch by using the Quantum Gateway's Authorize.net emulation mode, which allows you to use your exact Authorize.net scripts on QG's Gateway (just use the new merchant ID and pass)

Its good stuff!

We use ECHO.net which has worked great for us for a number of years. I highly recommend them and their fees are very competitive.

One reason every one is going to recommend AuthNet is because basically everything you can imagine is pre-integrated with it. i don't know of any shopping carts or billing systems that are not authnet ready out of the box.

I'm based outside US (Portugal). Is there anyway that I can still use the Quatum Gateway (CDGCommerce only offers this service to US Businesses)?
