Anyone had any problems with C Panel lately?

I use to hear that it was insecure, crashed the server sometimes, etc., but I haven't heard that lately. Are those still problems? Still problems with nightly updates?

I think it's interesting that no matter how many polls people do about control panels here, C Panel always wins as the favorite.

Haven't had any problems with cPanel lately myself, we have multiple servers. I remember reading about a lot of the problems way back, and I think its safe to say quite a few ( if not the majority ) of problems could ( notice the world could ) have been caused by the system admins lack of knowledge, hence blaming the problem on the cp.

I might also add that Nick and the darkorb staff are normally ( notice normally ) quick to respond to support tickets ( of course tickets should only be lodged as a last resort, see your dist. first ) lodged on their site.

Chrisb,

Not many problems lately! The cpanel guys have really stepped up to the plate and haven't released anything buggy in a while. Also - one thing may be that a couple months ago they disabled the auto-update of CPanel feature (you still get auto-updates of new RPM packages and security updates). You can also turn this feature back on in WHM if you want. So, this may be one reason that you've heard less about it.

Cpanel's the favorite because it's the best! :D Seriously though, the reasons I like CPanel is that it auto-updates security vulnerabilities (except kernel / apache ), it installs a ton of cool software at the install like portsentry, and my customers love it! Throw in the fact that you can completely customize the end user interface, it's just the best!

The best part is that they are continually developing it. It's just great to see in the server news that a new feature that you have wanted is now available. For example a couple of weeks ago they released IMAP support for all email boxes. I was seriously 1 or 2 days away from buying ensim for our main domain just for the IMAP support untill I saw that update. That right there saved me a cool $100.

(Sorry if this sounds like a CPanel marketing email... it's not I just wanted to throw in my opinions here!)

Thanks!
