Several months ago I had applied to the post secondary institution of my choice. I paid for residence, and received notification that I got a room (with 2 of my good friends) and that I was also enrolled in some sort of orientation program that takes place a week before classes start.

I figured this was all pretty cool. Going to a slack ass university and being in a dorm room with my good friends would make for a fun education.

Because i live ~3.5 hours from this university I had decided to drive to the orientation thing saturday morning. I just finished getting all my **** together and I thought it would be pretty funny if I got up there and all moved in and found out that I wasn't accepted. I started to scare myself. I figured that if I was denied acceptance, then I would at least receive a letter saying so, or i would not have been invited to the orientation thing. School starts in 2 weeks, so i figured that if i wasnt accepted i would have been told by now. I emailed the school about it a couple weeks ago and got no reply.

I phoned today just to double check and it turns out that i wasn't accepted. I missed the grade by 1%

I have been planning for this move all summer. One would think that the university would have the courtesy to keep the prospective student in the know about their application status. Up to this point i had been receiving about 1 piece of mail every couple weeks from the school. That is great; they were certainly keeping me updated, but not on what matters.

needless to say my plans are totally ****ered now because it is way to late to get in anywhere else this september. 1% i cant believe this.

That bites!

Hope they are at least going to refund the money you paid for residence.

Why did they give you a room if you weren't accepted?

Here, they don't just go on grades and SAT scores (but they are a major part of the admissions process). However, I don't understand why they didn't send you a letter in March or something.
