im thinking of either going with hostpacket.net or long4net.com,
both have given me a custom package to choose from but one is cheaper. I'd like to know about long4net.com, are they dependable? hows there service? I've already done a search for them and havent found anything about there service.

Both look like good choices to me but im leaning to long4net since they're cheaper. But on a whois on them it seems they registered their domain under namecheap.... so im not so sure about them. Hostpacket on the other hand looks good and from peoples opinions on this board are good.

So please help me decide!!!! Right now they are both going to cost me $25-35 dollars a year. They both will give me 10gb b/w and 100 or so mb of space, both have good features and good tech support. What should i choose?

Please feel free to voice your opinions....

I have only heard good things about hostpacket.net. They were having some minor network troubles a few days ago but it seems as if they got everything under control and back up ASAP.

I have never heard anything about long4net.com. Did you try a search of these forums?

I am not a client of either of them so I have nothing to say from a clients perspective... just from a viewers :)

I've heard some good things and bad things about hostpacket, but nothing to freak out over. I'd say hostpacket if it came down to it between the two :)

Looks like someones feelings have been hurt.

I think it is good to also mention all of the other folks that have been screwed by Hostpacket, and also should mention; Kevin is still selling membership's!

If you don't want input then perhaps you should not participate in IT!..X:)

Overall Kevin at Hostpacket seems like a decent guy. Decent service.

Ask and make sure everything is working before you sign up. I tried the service a month ago or so. Only to find out the Control Panels were not working at the time. I had to email support for everything. So, I left.

I hate to say do not use Hostpacket, because Kevin did go out of his way to help anyway he could. Support responses were always really quick. Like 5min to 30min. You might want to try and see how things are going now. I'd say it's a 50 /50 proposition. Do you need the hassle to find out?

Avoid HostPacket!
As a former HP client still
waiting for his refund, I check the
forums daily, and it appears Kevin
has pulled a disappearing act.
NO customer service whatsoever!
No answer to emails!
And the forums are full of clients
begging for help and they get
nothing but silence. This has been
going on for a good month or so.
Don't know what the problem is,
but I sure have nothing to say to
recommend them now.

Be forewarned!

Well, it looks like things have gone totally downhill since I was there.

I reaad tyhis board for a bit (a few months or so), but registered today so I could post in this thread.

Previously, Hospacket has recieved some pretty favorable feedback here, but....

well, don't.

it may have been good at one point, but now...it's not.

I just signed up as a new customer, and nothing. nothing.

there live chat is down (the "trial" is expired)

check out their forums (http://www.hostpacket.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=15)

and no response (after a week) via e-mail.

just, beware.

I'm an ex-HP customer and am STILL awaiting refund, which was originally promised to me.

How could anyone consider Kevin to be a decent guy? He went against his own word and tried to hide his mishaps by modifying the comparison chart, deleting posts on the message board, and changing policies in the TOS agreement.

Also, take a look at their forums: http://www.hostpacket.net/forum/index.php things don't seem to have changed much since I left.

Hostpacket are to be avoided - the minor network downtime someone referred to was more like 2-3 days and they lost all the data off one of the servers.
