View Full Version : Forsale webhostsforum.com
markcastle 08-22-2002, 09:17 PM Hi all,
I've decided to sell a web hosting forum which includes the domains webhostsforum.com and webhostsforum.co.uk, plus the design (http://www.webhostsforum.com) that we've already done including the HTML etc - any takers?
Reason for selling: Can't really be bothered to put in the effort to get it up and running. Not enought time to really (Gee i've been a member here since March 2001 and only racked up 133 posts if you get the drift - LOL).
It is currently 'running' Snitz Forum on Win2k - but you could easily change that to vB or phpBB, Linux or whatever, whilst keeping the design (if you were interested in doing so).
Would consider throwing in the hosting for it if absolutely required.
Won't bother to sell unless i get an offer worth the hassle (of transferring the domains etc).
Cheers
Aplusmedia 08-22-2002, 10:39 PM what price you think its worth the hassle? i mean..your site isnt very popular, (no posts, only post is from you). so if someone register it, they'll have to advertise it themself, from the begining.
i say $10-$15 for it?
webhostsforum.net is available.:D

I don't recall saying it was popular or even used.
As far as i'm concerned it is a good domain, that may be worth something to someone - IMHO of course. If you beg to differ that is your perogative.

Not any more it isn't :D (and if someone beat me to it - i really wouldn't care).
Look - i'd rather just hold on to it and just pay the domain fees each year if nothing else. Not desperate to sell it - just wondered if anyone wanted it as i don't have time to start it up let alone make it a going concern.
I wouldn't roll over in bed for $15 :D let alone go through the hassle of getting some cash and transferring domains - would probably cost me almost as much to raise an invoice LOL.
That said - i have no idea what it might be worth to someone. Highest offer so far was $25 which i have politely declined. I will be honest - the .com cost me £9 to register and the .co.uk cost £5 - the design took a couple of hours, but houses don't get sold for the price of their bricks. So... only serious offers please.
pgrote 08-22-2002, 11:28 PM I thought it was a serious offer.
For an undeveloped domain in none of the search engines it's a start. What about just selling the .COM?

BattleForums 08-23-2002, 01:13 AM Why is it people are interested in this domain name, but not http://www.hostingboards.com? IMO, "HostingBoards" is the best name, next to HostingForums of course. People always say "Message Boards" so "Hosting Boards" could really catch on. Anyways, not meaning to crap on your thread, just wondering why WebHostsForum gets more attention than HostingBoards :(
markcw 08-23-2002, 08:38 AM battleforums
why is your name not battleboards?
:D
dynamitehost 08-23-2002, 09:21 AM LOL, yeh why???
pgrote 08-23-2002, 10:39 AM Are you selling hostingboards.com?

I don't think the person asked people to buy his site. The domain itself has a certain value irrelevent to the site itself. I can tell you off the bat, that it's worth much more than $15.
KStudios 08-23-2002, 03:18 PM Ok i will probally have the highest bid..... $45.00 us.
conceptual 08-23-2002, 05:49 PM 15 :S you cant go to the waffle house for less than that. Plus i think its just when people come to buying stuff online they are cheap:D

LOL - that about sums it up.
Oh well - i probably won't bother to sell - have had a few offers and yep kStudios was about the highest - had a few others that asked me what i wanted - and i was honest - i really don't know what it might be worth to someone.
I think i'll just keep them and pay the reg fees and if i get time maybe do something with them. If anyone has any sort of offer in the meantime (maybe even partner on building a useful site or whatever) then maybe something can happen with the domains - maybe not.
Anyhow - cheers to all who took an interest - thanks.

BattleForums 08-23-2002, 11:37 PM Mark,
Since you're done, I hope you won't mind me pimping my domain in your thread :)
I'm selling the domain HostingBoards.com. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at: support@battleforums.com
Minimum offer i'm considering for it is $50. I think this is reasonable considering that the hosting market is booming now-a-days :)
Thanks.

pgrote 08-24-2002, 10:22 AM People don't go online to always buy cheap. That is a short sighted and very biased comment.
The benefit of selling in the forums is that you create the marketplace and people offer based on *perceived* value.
I bid $25.00. It gets him back the cost of his registration and a little more. That's it. He thinks he can make more by holding onto it and putting more money into maintaining the domain. Cool. It's his choice. But don't say the $25.00 is cheap. It costs $8.95 to register a domain, so $25.00 is over twice that amount.
