I've just had an email from a client asking why we're not offering deals like this ---> http://www.f2g.net

I'll be interested to see how that 'deal' goes :)

I see they run IBM's Unix (AIX); I used it at a host about 3 years ago and had a lot of compatability problems with scripts. Has that improved???

No one seems to have spotted that the only service f2g.net offer is actually free hosting with 15mb space, everything else is just affiliate links to elsewhere.

SPECIAL OFFER ENDING NEXT SUNDAY, HURRY UP! This is no joke! Get the best hosting deal in existence for only $6.95!
9,000 MB RAID Level 5 Protected Storage Space
5,000 POP 3 Email Accounts
50,000MB/Month Web Traffic
www.yourname.com
Free domain name
Perl 5.6/Full CGI Access/PHP4.2.2.
MySQL 3.23
And a lot lot more!!!

How is it possible ? C'mon guys !! Do they really think people are stupids to subscribe to such and *Excellent* offer ?

Well, lets say they are having dual 60 GB hard drive.

60 x 2 = 120

120, 000 / 9,000 = 12 ( clients per server )
50 GB x 12 = 600 GB

600 GB x 1 = 600 US$
12 x 6.95 = 83.50 US$

600 - 83.50 = US$ 516.50

You mean they are loosing almost US$ 500.00 per a server ? To be reputable ? and just serve people as favore ?

I don't think so... What do you think my friends ?

Well that site is just an affiliate link to the offer, the actual host who is offering it is running Hsphere (not really relevant but there ya go) and are listed by CNet. As it says RAID 5 disk storage then they are using more than two drives, they also know that most people will come no where near using either the disk space or the data transfer - Although they really are pushing overselling to it's limit for the offer, but then again it's a special offer designed to get people talking - and it's working a charm.

This is not f2g's hosting plan. It is just an affiliate link. Actually as KDAWebServices said, everything in their site is affiliate links except the free web hosting part that only offers 15mb with 100mb data transfer per month...

They must....and seeing the number of customers companies like cyberwings have had, they may be right....people may really be that stupid.

The site in questions first uses an Advertisement through Infinology [ http://smartconsumers.infinology.com/secrethosting.html ] -- love that "secret hosting" bit. ;)

The page then shows the offer from f2g.net followed by another offer from Pow Web Hosting. They haven't updated the www.powweb.com Advertisement though, as they now offer 250MB of Web space (instead of 70MB).

What's really funny, if you go through the f2g.net signup form (leave input blank, no validation is setup) you get an error page and... wait for it... "another" Ad for ipowerweb.com. :stickout

If any client of mine pointed this site out to me, I would not worry at all.

Hello,

Well... They shouldn't, since they gotta learn from pasts. I guess now people are not choosing their hosting providers easily, they search, search and search... I guess CW was a good lesson to everyone.

People don't learn from the past, a prime example is what I was watching on ABC News earlier, 10 year ago when Hurricane Andrew hit, 20% of people surveyed said they would stop in their home when there was a hurricane approaching, this year when people were surveyed 50% of people said they would stop in their home - People obviously don't learn.

Hello,

That was a nice example.... Let's hope once they learn from pasts.
