I am a developer of 22 years, and I currently sell web-based apps in both classic Asp and .Net for a niche market. I'm looking for a Windows reseller, cost is secondary (within reason) so long as I can find what I need. This is what I'd like to find in a single host:
- MUST BE EXTREMELY RELIABIE
- quick, responsive tech support (24/7 not required, and would prefer to work with support via online tickets)
- unbranded service, private label nameservers
- unlimited storage, bandwidth, email addresses (or at least more than my clients would consume)
- unlimited access databases/DSN's
- the ability to provide each of my customers with at least 1 MS SQL and 1 MySql database
- .Net 2.0 and above
- Smartermail webmail
- Scheduled tasks
- End-user support (for my clients, this would be nice to have, but not required)
- Customizable control panel (to add options for managing my apps that client has installed)
- PHP 4.x-5.x / Perl (It's nice to have options)
- Website stats for my clients
- A generous offering of 1-click installables (DotNetNuke, Wordpress, etc).
- Easy upgrade path, I need to start small and grow as needed
I had initially wanted a single host who could also provide all my e-commerce & domain registration needs, but after studying a bit I've decided to go with eNom and PayPal and use both their API's to build my own cart. I'm only going to have 1 plan (plus domain names), so it should be easy enough.
I'm not concerned with issues such as being able to add resellers under my account. In my business model, I'm not looking to host for the general public, just my specific target clients with my own applications.
Now, if I've asked any n00bish questions here, it's because I AM a n00b at the reseller game, so be gentle everyone :)
Thanks.
