Synergy 03-11-2001, 10:50 PM I'm interested in your $27.95 plan with the Unlimited Transfer. But before I decide to move on to your server I have some questions that need to be answered. I am sure if you answer yes to this question, you will have alot more sign ups!
Can I consume 50-100 GB bandwidth?
I have 3 sites which I would not like to disclose their URL just yet. One consumes about average 55 GB monthly, the other one about 5 GB and one more that max 70 GB+.
Just wondering if you would host me.
Vortech 03-11-2001, 11:53 PM As it says Unlimited Transfer that is what it means :)
We don't have any problems with bandwidth. The only way you would ever have a problem is if were putting way to much load on the server. eg. ( Running ColdFusion, ASP or High PHP scripts with that many hits.) I don't see this to be a problem ether as we don't run any server, as of right now, with over 120 customers on it.
Our servers are Dual PIII 800's and 1000's with 4 GB of RAM and full Raid 5. We are a NEW host on the block, only about a year old under the name Vortech Inc.
We have been very stable with no more then 9 hours of down time with in the last year. So we stand by our 99.99% uptime and if our site says Unlimited Transfer we mean it.
We run our network at 50% usage or under. As of right now we are running at about 22% usage on our network so we are not even close as of yet.
Myake 03-12-2001, 09:51 AM I would like to know what kind of mailinglist you provide.
Can only the administrator send emails to the list, or is it a discussion list? Currently I'm running a Flash helpsite, which also provides a discussion list, but I'm experiencing probles with this list.
BTW. I'm really interested in signing up with your company, but that depends of the type of mailinglist.
Vortech 03-12-2001, 10:37 AM Well we have both.
We run Imail 6.6 that does discussion list like you would need. We also have a WebBased where only the admin can send out emails like a OPT-In Mailing list Program.
To tell you the truth i have never used the discussion list as of yet have not had any one need it yet. :) I am on a few list that do use it so i can get it working with no problem just never used that part of the mail serer before..LOL
Vortech 03-19-2001, 06:56 PM *bump*
brainbox 03-19-2001, 10:19 PM One question for you,
What provisions do you have for multiple domains under one account, for example, dreamhost.com offers one account for $19.95 and each additional domain name under that account is offerd at an additional $5.00
Do you offer anything like this?
Thanks,
Bb
Vortech 03-19-2001, 11:17 PM You can do simple Pointers to the same site 2.50 /mo.
You can do adv. Pointer for 5.00 that come with mail.
You can also add sites for 6.95 per month after the first.
We are working on reseller plans as well. That would give you even a better deal after 5 sites. So you might want to check that out once we have it done also.
If you need more info just ask or give us a call at 1-866-4Vortech and will be happy to help you out.

Chicken 03-20-2001, 02:56 AM Try not to bump posts (at all if possible), but at least 7 days (like you did I realize). I understand not wanting to repost the same thing again.
Vortech 03-20-2001, 09:40 AM Not a problem Chicken. Was just trying to save some space for you guys. Just wanted to give the post one more try as it did great the last time on here.
Thanks letting me know. Still a little new here so i am trying to make sure i don't break the rules...:)
I'm starting a new site that I'll be sending a lot of traffic to from another website of mine. It's going to be 100% CF driven. I have no idea right now how much load it will be on the server. It's a site where users take quizzes to test their knowledge. It's not very complicated, so it shouldn't be too hard on the server. I had it narrowed down to 3 hosts, you being one of them. I was very pleased to see your company on here, which makes me lean toward you guys. The site won't be using much HD space or anything else so my only question is, what happens if I start using too many system resources?
Thanks,
Leif
Vortech 03-23-2001, 06:53 PM Well We split all our CorpWeb, ProWeb accounts up on other servers away from our LiteWeb Plans. They run no more then 25 to 50 sites per server. So this should not be a problem.
I would not want to see you on a LiteWeb server as for one the ColdFusion is a add-on and it may run a little slower then on our Corp or Pro Plans. If you go with a CorpWeb Plan would be more then happy with the speed and there should never be a problem with system resources with less then 50 users.
One thing to remmber we Max all our servers out in Hardware and run them way under on users.
ProWeb Servers:
Dual PIII 1000Mhz
4 GIGs of Ram
Raid 5 15k RPM Scsi
Our Corp and Pro system could take about anther 100 Users before even using 5% of the CPU 50% of the time. From 9am to 5pm with lager sites get tons of hits the server never gets past 3% to 4% all day... :)
Let me know if you need more info.
Got all the info I need, I'm signging up! I hope your tech support is always this quick.
Vortech 03-23-2001, 09:06 PM Most of the time. We try to keep E-Mail support well under 6 hours most of the time you can send me a e-mail and i can have it fixed in a few minutes.
We don't have many problems really. Keep our servers up todate and as you will see the best customer support you could ask for. Well for Windows 2000 and NT any way. :)
JBIZ718 03-23-2001, 10:38 PM I have a problem with all of this.
It looks awesome dont get me wrong.
I own a hosting company and interested.
I also know Verio.
Verio doesnt offer unlimited Bandwith Packages and are quite pricey when it comes to bandwith.
Also what type of Control Panel do you use.
Joe
Vortech 03-23-2001, 10:57 PM What's verio have to do with any thing..LOL
They are only one of our main Backbone's as is UUnet, PSInet and CW.net. UUnet and Verio both run over Parts Time Warner's networks so they are both good. We have had 0 down time on Verio's networks. So don't take Verio's hosting to be the same as Verio's data lines. ;)
Now UUnet says they are the best and we fell for that a year ago. They are big and have a so so network from what I have seen. It is large and that helps. But we have had it go out for about a hour 1 time and 2 hours once. So I tend to like verio better now.
We don't host any one with verio we only use verio as one of our providers so it is unlimited Bandwidth. All our servers are in our NOC here in Orlando FL.
We use Hostingcontroller.com for our NT control Panel about the only control panel off the shelf you can buy. We are also reworking there control panel at this time.
I have to say there control panel is not the best but most of the time it gets the job done for every one. Plus once we have it done it will be 100% better. :)
I hope this helps. If you did a trace route on vortechhosting.com do a whois and you will see UUnet is where DNS servers are or should I say some of them. :)
JBIZ718 03-23-2001, 11:08 PM I did a trace from chicago.
24 hops later I wind up at Verio.
And no service provider offers unlimted bandwith. We have deals with some of the best in the coutry in a neutral fiber facility, with 7-8 carriers, and none of them offer unlimited transfer.
What NOC are you in.
Please dont undermind my intelligence or people of this forum. I know the business, I deal with it everyday. I know what the market offers and where its going.
Vortech 03-23-2001, 11:34 PM Your right no one gives you unlimited transfer. You get what you pay for. We keep our network under 50% at all times.
I am not trying to undermind your intelligence. You asked about verio I told you what I know. If you did not what to hear it you should have not ask me.
There is a way to hide hopes UUnet does it some how from what there techs have told me. So when you are doing Trace routes looks like less but it might not be. As you said verio was 24 hopes its 22 for me here not much better. But every thing still loads fine and just as fast as uunet most of the time. but much better uptime the UUnet so far so it is give and take. UUnet is 12 for me here so who knows.
I do know UUnet's network is a little faster at times so don't get me wrong on that one. That is one nice thing about them and why I keep them around.
We have our own NOC here in Orlando FL we don't use any one else.
BTW. No one has unlimited transfer but are you going to use up 4 OC-3's before I can order new ones? I don't think you will come close as when we see our network load go up we up our bandwidth and pay for it just as you would do right. I am not trying to get on your bad side or any thing like that. If you want to know some thing just ask me. I don't know you from joe down the road and what you may know so I try and tell you or answer it the best I can.
Hell we started out with 8 T1's from 4 from verio and 4 from UUnet so we have came a long way. :)
JBIZ718 whats your site i would like to check it out. I am sorry if you took me the wrong way. Was just trying to help you out man.
JBIZ718 03-23-2001, 11:42 PM Im not saying your on my bad side.
What Im saying is
When something is too good to be true, I question it.
I answered my question.
Somewhere your domain is traced to Verio. It is 24 hops which means 24 chances of failure.
I am used to 10-14 hops if not less.
You might have great services and all, but I question things that people question me about.
Joe
Vortech 03-23-2001, 11:52 PM Very True 24 is a lot. I felt the same way when i saw 22 here when we first got with Verio. I said to my self that same thing. But then when uunet went down 2 times and they have a hope of 12 to 14 makes you think..LOL
So far Verio has been great no down time yet not one min. as of yet so i can't say any thing bad about them. I see your point on the hope. ;)
velox33 03-24-2001, 03:06 PM http://www.vortechhosting.com/

Vortech 03-28-2001, 01:00 AM We did some upgrades on Saturday velox33. The server vortechhosting.com was on came down for a bit for upgrade around the time you went there.
