Darth 08-22-2002, 02:05 PM Whats wrong with new companys? :) menyak 08-22-2002, 02:13 PM Enter the new company's name in the search window, press return - volia, "no results found." :( Darth 08-22-2002, 02:26 PM So what? theres tons of companys that have been providing hosting for a long time but that doesn't mean they have to appear on the search results. menyak 08-22-2002, 02:42 PM Yeah, but me have to find out myself if they're good or bad... :bawling: Darth 08-22-2002, 02:43 PM Sign up with them! :D menyak 08-22-2002, 02:51 PM You know something I don't know? :D Darth 08-22-2002, 04:06 PM I know the square root of 49234829084394.248948 :D dandanfirema 08-22-2002, 04:09 PM what is it? menyak 08-22-2002, 04:18 PM Just above 7 million, as always. Everybody knows that... They've made it pretty easy to group all of your sites under a single account with no hassles. They have been around a while now. I found 156 links to them in google. (just type gighost). A bunch of good reviews out there too. Their prices just rock, no two ways about it. Good bandwidth too. Rik menyak 08-28-2002, 05:40 PM I've signed up with another host now because it took them forever (=3 days) to reply and I needed a new host urgently... They do have this SOS feature (GREAT idea!), but the thought that it might also take three days to get a reply when I have a problem would make me feel uneasy. And usually sales requests are answered much quicker than other mail anyway... :D CyberScript 08-28-2002, 05:45 PM I have a few of my client's sites hosted with gighost (since April) and haven't had any problems. Pages load fast and their staff always replies to my questions within the hour, sometimes even within a few minutes. Btw, you can chat with them on icq too (#153635641), I added them to my list when I was first interested in them and found out everything I needed to know right away. menyak 08-28-2002, 06:02 PM It's just too late, I'm with edge-host now. The problem is that gighost doesn't have a precise table where they post the technical details of their plans (like: do they have gzip enabled - things like that). Sure, most stuff goes without saying, but when I sign up for a plan, I want to make sure. Anyway, good to know about your experience, it's always useful to have a backup just in case... RikRok 08-28-2002, 06:13 PM Interesting idea... do you have a few URLs you could put up that meet your needs? Thanks, Rik menyak 08-28-2002, 06:22 PM Like these guys here... http://www.edge-host.com/index.php?page=features http://www.hostpacket.net/comparisonchart.php RikRok 08-28-2002, 06:26 PM Yeah, all of that does go without saying.. at least for me. In my experience and a quick scan of both lists, Gighost.com supports all of that. If you are happy where you are, clearly it didn't hurt. :) I'll send an email to GH and let them know what they need to do. heh Rik menyak 09-20-2002, 07:10 AM These guys are incredible! They NEVER answer any of my emails! I wonder how they can do business like that!!! RikRok 09-20-2002, 02:55 PM ... support is excellent with Gighost. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them since I started. I recommend them to everyone. I just signed up and went. The email I received told me everything I needed to know. Rik menyak 09-20-2002, 03:08 PM Maybe you can get them to reply to this thread... would be interesting to hear their response. I'm currently on the 81st day of my quest to get the money back for my Aletia account I cancelled on July 1. People who chronically ignore emails just suck! RikRok 09-20-2002, 03:10 PM I can definitely ask them to join this board. They take care of their customers very well in my experience and those of that I have recommended. Have you tried contacting them on ICQ/AIM? Rik menyak 09-21-2002, 06:33 PM No, I didn't! Of course - great idea, we wasn't thinking... ;) The Laughing Cow 09-21-2002, 06:53 PM Darth can you trademark my name please :) RikRok 09-24-2002, 02:08 PM LC -- I can trademark your name. But I'd like to use it. That's okay, right? Is a Laughing Cow anything like a Laughing Ape? ;) Rik menyak 09-26-2002, 08:43 AM RikRok, what's the URL of your site hosted by GigHost? XTNet 09-26-2002, 09:43 AM Originally posted by menyak I've signed up with another host now because it took them forever (=3 days) to reply and I needed a new host urgently... Just tells me that they dont care about OTHER customer requests or questions, just the ones they deem important. RikRok 09-26-2002, 10:30 AM ... its easy to criticize you haven't used before. *I*, as a paying customer want to know _true_ emergencies are given a higher priority than run of the mill "can I run Zxcksdl v1.0?" questions. If they want a feature that separates time sensitive issues from normal support questions, why wouldn't that be a good idea? I prefer being able to use an SOS feature instead of having to wade through voice mail menus -- which I've had to do elsewhere. To each his own... Rik Menyak - I can send you some of my URLs privately. I don't think the administrator would appreciate them in this forum (if you catch my drift...) ScorpionC 05-03-2003, 12:46 PM O.k you don't have to twist my arm. Here's my review and experience: I signed up with them and immediately noticed a problem. They did not include the .com at the end of my domain name when setting up the account. I'm not sure if I forgot to enter it myself, or if it was their system. Since I copied and pasted it I kind of think it wasn't me, but either way its a very simple problem to fix..just 4 characters to type...right? The way their system is set up, one mistake there effects everything...my domain name is pointed to:www.mysite instead of www.mysite.com, email is the same way too, so basically everything is useless. So here I was saying to myself..Oh well no big deal, I'll just send a message to support and have it fixed and things will be ready in a few hours or a day max. Gighost.com has many ways to contact them: Support tickets, icq, email, and a SOS system for extreme emergencies. It appeared the most common way was to open a support ticket, and they have four different levels of tickets. Notify, Warning, Urgent, and Critical. So this is how things went..... I signed up with them on Monday Monday:Opened a "Warning" support ticket (no response) Tuesday:Opened a "Urgent" support ticket (no response) Wednesday: Opened a "Critical" support ticket (no response) Thursday: Sent message by icq (no response) Thursday: Sent email to support (no response) Friday: Used SOS form (no response) Saturday: Used SOS form again (no response) And note that with the SOS form, they say they will either call or email you within a few minutes! AND that the message is sent to several of there staff at the same time. LOL! I am convinced of one the following: either... No one actually works there Or The boss has taken the whole staff on a trip out of the country. It just doesn't make sense. How can they expect to do business that way? I had a whole slew of domains I was ready to move over, and I was even considering getting a server from them...not anymore! |
