I dunno where else to put it.. i hope u guys will still help me anyway.

I recently opened a paypal account. I didn't add my cc information or something. For now it's just to get payd for work done @ webhostingtalk (mainly webdesign and logodesign).

I have 0$ now, cause i just opend my paypal account. But i can already pay $1.000. While i didn't enter any cc information. And i don't want this. I don't want to spend that money, or have a chance that the webhosting companies iam paying have a chance to get that money. I only want to use the money i actually have earned with that account and nothing else. I just don't want to take a risk, since my creditcard has been abused 1 time already (yes i got the money back but that isn't the case). I just don't want to take the risk of losing that $1000 by mistake, hacker, etc etc.

Is there a possibility to turn the option of that $1000 off?

Sorry for my very bad English now.. i hope u understand what i mean anyway.

Thanx in advance.

Can't you login to paypal account and change your account info therein...i suppose they have that feature to change profile or turn the option off.

Be sure to make a good password something like- O2bt~3Ys9. The only way for someone to get money out is for you to OK it.

ic3d, you can pay $1000 if you add a credit card - this limit is put in place to protect Paypal, rather than yourself. Once you verify your credit card, then they remove this limit.

It's NOT possible to spend this $1000 at the moment, you'd still need a credit card - so I think you have nothing to worry about.

Paypal itself is secure, but there are scammers etc, just like everywhere else.

Yes it is partially :(
I just received a payment trhough paypal. But like i sayd i don't have a cc cause of all the scammers and it has been abused irl once. Besides that iam a student and i don't earn enough money a year anymore to get a CC.

However, to reduce credit card
processing costs for accounts that do not pay fees, the ability to receive
credit card payments is limited to Premier and Business accounts.

So i think paypal is kinda worthless for me..

You can upgrade to a premium account without a CC, but it means they take a percentage of your earnings.

Ummmmm, When you signup for a business account you are credited with $1,000 and can use that without having a CC on your account - I believe.

how would they credit you with $1000 for you to use just for signing up with the business account with no credit card on file??

lol
WHEN YOU add your CC you can send $1000 max through paypal
if your limit on ur cc is $100
then of course you won't be sending $100
you'll be sending $100 here - paying it off, then $100 again

only way you can send $1000 in full, or higher than your cc limit is if you have a balance (money that others send)

whjen you VERIFY your cc, the limit gets taken off and you can send as much as you want
