The forum is powered by vbulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) which unfortunatley isn't free.

phpBB (http://phpbb.com/) is a good free alternative.

Well I'm very biased, but phpBB (www.phpbb.com) is good :D.

Any others. Sorry, their demo is working. Do they have email notification and rankings, avators, and titles after a certain number of posts?

Take a look at http://www.invisionboard.com/ , it looks good & they say it installs easier than phpbb.

You can also upgrade from phpbb2 to invisionboard without loosing anything (members/post)......

I'm a vBulletin fan... especially after playing the the beta version 3.

Anyway to go for vB I would recommend making sure you have a reasonable community i.e. you don't want to pay for a forum and find no one uses it!

vbulletin.com - expensive but very user-friendly to change the colors, etc..

phpbb.com - free, easy to install but requires HTML skills to edit the theme files but you could always download themes instead of making your own.

invisionboard.com - free, I like this forum script a lot but like for phpBB it requires some skills and patience to make your own theme.

phpBB is great if you're new to php or looking for a quick solution.

I've found XMB is the best option when integrating into existing infrastructure. The code needed a little clean-up, but their user and session systems were easily replaced to suit our CORE technology.

Sincerely,

-Matt

Well, Ive tried XMB, but there are too many glitches. I have installed PHPBB and liked it.

Thanks for everyboadys help!

Take a look at YaBBSE, http://www.yabb.info, it is really nice. phpBB does have more features right now but YaBBSE is very good and a new version is being worked on.

I would go for invisionboard.com ...they are very profetional in what they are doing. And its the fastest free forums software to date, thats its free. 1.1 is almost out, wich has some sweet features. :)
