I'm trying to find a reseller hosting where I can install Joomla components and templates without having difficulties with them. Anywhere I've tried before, I found that files or folders or new components that I load onto my Joomla 1.5 site get 99 99 as owner name which makes them unwritable.
Are there any reseller hosting with cpanel without these problems?

Normally files' owner would be your cpanel username.
I thought the same... But the experiences show me something else...

I suppose it happens because the uploading and installing of templates and components is done via Joomla.
You need a host that uses phpsuexec.
In the mean time, ask the host to change ownership of the files you're having trouble with?

I get the same problem every time I install a new Joomla. Will always get my hosts to sort it. And they always do get it fixed pretty quickly.
Thanks a lot for this answer!!!:agree:
I hope it will solve this problem...

Yeah sounds like phpsuexec to me also. But this would also mean that pretty much every php script that creates files automatically would break.
I would move host if I were you :)
I found this (http://onwebdevelopment.blogspot.com/2008/04/secure-joomla-file-permissions-linux.html)

That's to do with file permissions not file owners and groups.

Your best off manually installing it/downloading the files/creating the databases.
Should at all go wrong with this problem.

I used to be on Resellerzoom and they had suexec too(But I don't know if they still use it now or not)

Use the FTP settings for Joomla 1.5 -- this issue is why they put that in there. The files will be owned by the proper user and not apache.
