View Full Version : Burst change my CPU!

I asked Tuesday burst to remove me the extra 192MB of RAM which I had on my server.

I look at today on my server and I see that it also replaced the CPU of 800MHZ which I had by one of :uzi: 395MHZ!!
(I paid $249/month for this server)

I have send a message yesterday to support@burst.net and Paul gevurtz but I did not obtain any answer.

I think that their support system by email does not function, because i send a another priority message today but no reply!!

I will like to know if a person in charge of burst can immediately fix that because that causes me much damage, especially with the down times of the week last.

It is sad to hear what has happened to you and I know how frustrating it can be. The issue could just be a simple misunderstanding.

Perhaps you could drop them another email or talk to them online via their live chat or something to clear up this issue.

I am not sure if their tech people visit this message board so it might be easier if you contact them directly.

http://www.burst.net/contact.shtml provides a list of contact you can try.

Give them 24 hours to response people the person which did the downgrade for you may not work 24 hours.

This sounds like a kernel issue, not a "Hey!, let's rip out this CPU and put this one in!!

More than likely the board you have would not support a 400 mghz cpu in the first place.

But...Monday before it remove the extra RAM, I could see well that I had 800Mhz like processor.

My current server load is not very reassuring!

I agree with Samuel it's is a kernal or bios issue. I think the bios defaulted to it's lowest speed.

What version of RedHat are you running?

Pulling a stick of ram, putting another type, brand etc can cause weird kernel panics, as well as misreport things.

I've seen this frequently on kernel upgrades from 7.2 to 7.3

Be careful right now, backup what you absolutely do not want to lose (This is not a hit on burst), these aren't easy things to resolve sometimes so be easy with them, I'm sure their intention is to handle this server with care, just be patient right now.. lol experience tells me to offer this advice to you =)

Thank you for your advise, I have already backup the data of my customers on a other server while waiting to see what will occur. I use version redhat 7.2.

With "unlimited wireless" companies popping up all over the place, and toll-free numbers for $.07/min, why doesn't everyone have a toll-free "Hello?" support number?

Personally, I think the money people pay for hosting and co-location more than warrants someone to answer a damn phone. Auto-responding ticket trackers are great, but is it so hard for someone just to answer a phone and direct customers in the right direction in their times of panic?

this problem is now fixed.

Problem caused by a bios problem.

Thanks to all.
