View Full Version : AMD cooling in 1U?

Greetings,

I've been comparing prices between different platforms and am having a hard time justifying the cost of the P4's (granted it's actually less than dual P3's now).
The AMD line looks like a decent price/performance mix, but I'm wondering if it's possible to cool them enough inside a 1U chassis. Has anyone taken this leap? Any specific HSF used?
Thanks!

use a 1u blower heatsink/fan for the cpu, aim the blower so it exhausts the air directly out the back, make sure you have proper airflow to the cpu so the cpu can get clean cool air to keep temps down.

Where can one get a blower? I've checked out thermaltake and pricewatch.com and can't find anything that allows you to direct the heat exhaust.

I actually have a couple. I think they're called Nidec. I found a bunch at Radio Shack a few years ago. They work well, but I'm concerned about the lack of a good source for intake since it would be drawing from the bottom when oriented to fit in a 1U.
