Hi there,

I have a VPS and my 'hosting company' offer free eNom accounts.

I only run a small hosting venture - nothing major! But what's the advantage of eNom, I guess automatic registration with WHMCS?

But how does eNom work?

You have to hold x amount of money with them?

Thanks all

You put money into your eNom account, and every time a domain is registered via WHMCS, the related fees are deducted. It's pretty simple.

OK - it there a minimum you have to hold with eNom?

Reseller accounts minimum $100 upload ($3 taken by Enom in 'fees' so you actually get $97 for domain regs).

No, this is not correct. Well.. it's partially correct.

There is a $100 minimum amount only *if* you choose to "refill" your account balance using credit card or paypal.

If you send them a check, or money order, or wire transfer, then there is NO minimum amount. You can send them a check for $8.95 and they will deposit it, and you can then register one domain.

Think the key word was upload ;)

I guess I don't understand why or how upload is being used in terms of sending money to enom?

Uploading funds is done by using the paypal gateway or the credit card gateway to pay using the Internet - mailing a check isn't uploading, it's sending ... at least that's the UK explanation, a multi-national forum may have a variety of understandings :)

Being from US, I've never heard the term upload used like this. Uploading is the act of transferring files from one computer to another.....

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&defl=en&q=define:Upload&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title

I had to look that up to see if there was a magical new definition that stated it was the act of using a credit card (or paypal). :P

My point is, I think that's why people are confused with your #5 reply above.

... I'm from the UK - So the only way (please correct me if I'm wrong) would be to 'upload' funds. Although, it's quicker. But having a minimum such as £50 ($100) is a pain, especially when I only ned to order a couple of domains every now and again.

My thinking is to stick with 123-reg.co.uk in the UK - OK, it's not an automated process but not too much hardship.

I'll leave it to you to decide who has the monopoly on understanding of the English language - residents of England or of America :D ;)

LOL! British English is NO LONGER "the" standard (and Received Pronunciation becomes more a joke than being respected); and yes, OF COURSE the American English IS the mainstream.

But then this "upload" thingy is not really about different Englishes; eNom simply does NOT have a strict minimum requirement for resellers to LOAD their account. I honestly think most people who are browsing this thread are smart enough to read beyond the rhetorics.

I'm in the UK and use both 123-REG and enom
Due to the lower cost of Domain Names most purchases recently have been from enom
Each Domain Name is ordered as required and paid for at the time
With suppliers changing prices quite often, I find it more practical to seek out the best prices once a month and proceed from there, rather than give the registrar all the money up front
Why should they have the money and make interest on it, when I can do so!
