Definitely LxAdmin is better for beginners.

If you use webmin, you should have experience with Linux and Konfiguration.

I'd also go with Lxadmin over webmin as it is more user friendly.

LXadmin, the forums over at www.LXlabs.com are very helpful if your new to it.

Agreed. LxAdmin is much more user friendly and easier to navigate around with for beginners.

+1 for LxAdmin, tho webmin is very good if you are only going to be using with experienced admins etc etc, its fast and powerfull, tho as said b4, can be confusing

webmin has been around for a long time. But I have to agree, it's not very user friendly. I haven't used LxAdmin to know if it's stable. I've used Webmin in the past for a DNS Server. It worked fine.

We've got a number of customers who Rely on LxAdmin for ecommerce sites etc, so its definatley a stable solution.

Not that its a bad thing, but updates can become a little out of hand. At times LxLabs seems to release 4 updates on the same day. It's personal preference really but I would prefer a slower release on updates.

Sounds like they are almost careless with the updates. Maybe they are releasing an update, and then releasing a "patch" for that previous update?

Not enough beta testing perhaps?

Well to be honest with you the most irritating thing as an SA is that they don't provide any changelogs, its the same scenario with HyperVM. So pretty much you are left in the dark about what has been changed, and just have to hope it goes smoothly.

The panels even have a Changelog section, but they don't bother to add any entries, and they never have.

Apparently when HyperVM 3 is out, they will start using the changelog there. I havn't got a clue when they start to do them on LxAdmin.

LxAdmin is a nice product, and sure its developing fast - but IMO just get the bugs fixed and instead of patching in new features every day, release it as one go on a new version. It's the same story with HyperVM mind, which can be a pain in the rear when you've got slave servers which don't match the master due to failed or interrupted updates.

Sorry to go off-topic a bit :stickout:

Agreed. That's how software should be released.

Agreed. :D Back on topic...

I need to try LxAdmin out to give an honest review there. Their demo on the website is pretty slow loading. (For me at least.)

I don't see how you can compare LXadmin with Webmin, they server different purposes.

I think most people are referring to Webmin with Usermin.

I have used a few of the free panels, and i think LxAdmin was pretty good. I certainly didnt find any faults with it, it does the job it says it will do and it was pretty easy to install and setup.

It looks pretty nice aswell.

If I had to pay $13 more a month for Cpanel (which I have used for years) is it worth it? Or will LXAdmin get the job done?

I think purpose of this thread was to compare free panels. Although LxLabs guys need to work more on their product behavior and some other regular procedures, I find Lxadmin to be pretty good and its quite stable, as somebody before me brought that to question.

Many of our customers use Lxadmin as well, and so far we didn't have any major complains.

As for me, personal preference would be cPanel, but when it comes to free panels, I'd say Lxadmin is a way to go. Tried webmin (w/ usermin) but didn't find it as user friendly as LX.
