Chaps 08-21-2002, 08:53 PM Just learn it online...nobody is gonna want to take ahours to try and "type" it to you...just search it...there are tutorials online.
iamdave 08-21-2002, 10:09 PM Best place to look around is probably php.net. You can search a function, and the php manual will tell you exactly what it does.
cactus 08-21-2002, 10:24 PM I would recommend that you install PHP4 and Apache web server on your pc. If you like learning from books, there is a book I would recommend that comes with cdrom and tutorials and examples.
Install the above programs(Apache/PHP) from the cdrom and you are all set to start learning and experimenting with PHP.

derek.bodner 08-22-2002, 08:50 PM Just about any (Non-Free) host will support PHP.
As cactus said, installing it on your own machine (for learning purposes) is a good idea. And PHP.net is where I would do my reading from.
dragonhawk 08-22-2002, 11:09 PM If you're using windows, I would recommend that you download the .chm windows help file from php.net
That way, you can search for a description and it returns possible functions for you to use...
cactus 08-23-2002, 02:37 AM I forgot to mention the author has a website:
www.thickbook.com
You can view the contents of the book or buy it online.

If were talking about the same book it is a great one...
Huge purple php bible :D
It doesn't cover PHP in great detail nor does it cover MySQL in great detail but, it's a great overview book that will get you coding PHP in a hour or so..

Well mines good too...
cactus 08-23-2002, 03:36 PM I will probably add your book recommended to my collection of good PHP books :D
I have an account with amazon so it's not a problem ordering the book. Anyways, thanks for the info.
Ahmad 08-23-2002, 08:06 PM Or save yourself 3$ and get it from bookpool.com :stickout

They have tech books only, but their pricing is always better than Amazon (especially for international shipping :)).
