Hi All,

I'm yet another person who has been hosting with cyberwings and is coming to realise that things are not likely to revive. Sad, but seems pretty certain. My question is this, how do I get my domain names transferred to a new host (when I find one)? From my experiences transferring in the past, I seem to remember it takes the cooperation of the previous registrar/host, which in my case is Cyberwings, who obviously are not likely to be too helpful right now.

ANy advice would be welcome - thanks.

Well hopefully you registered outside of CW so the domain should have all your info on it.. If you did register through CW then it all depends who they put as administrative contact.

CW is GoDaddy's reseller. So, just contact GoDaddy.

If you are talking about the domain kevmartin.org, you are the admin contact and may be able to simply transfer it away from GoDaddy into another registrar and account that you control.

If you already have the username and password for the GoDaddy control panel, log in and change your nameservers to your new hosts nameservers when you are ready to move your domain and you will be all set.

The fact that Cyberwings is the GoDaddy reseller would make me want to transfer away from GoDaddy however.

If you don't have the account access, contact GoDaddy support and tell them you need access. You won't be the first Cyberwings customer to have done so.

Hi again,

Alas, it seems I had my Cyberwings email as the admin contact email address. Bugger!!

Currently in the process of getting it change by GoDaddy, which requires faxing of authority, drivers license, etc, etc. :-(

Pretty much settled on myecom.net as the new host, but for the second domain, I'll need a free parking place to redirect to a subdirectory with MyEcom. Any idea, anyone?

Thanks, regards and all that stuff,

Why not stick with Godaddy? They have a free park page, if you have to have one. Email forwards for like 99 cents for 5 of them.

You can have those features with any registrars if you use free DNS services from Zoneedit or Secondary.com
