Hi everyone
Can I have linux and windows operating system on the same machine at a time? I tried once but it crashed. Please help me out.

yes you can it is called dual booting. you will have a menu pop up asking if you would like to boot linux or windows. You install windows first and then install linux. its pretty simple these days. go to linuxhelp.net if you have problems and search for dual-boot

Yep. Im an expert at dual boot setups... only cause ive formatted and reinstalled 50 times in a month :D
Yes, its possible to have windows and linux on the same machine. Linux comes with (or you can download one) a boot loader. im on linux right now, takes forever for windows to load so i use it instead ;)

I do think "at a time" means "at the same time"?
The vmware suggestion would fit.
Make sure you have enough ram if you are gonna run it
Its safer then dual booting (IMHO) because it wont mess with your harddrive, plus you can have both running at the same time :)

Also make sure your VGA card is not one of those built-in with the motherboard where it utilise the ram to run the card. You will have problems installing Linux for dual boot system on your pc.
