I dont know what else to do, can somebody tell me why I have this top banner in my website hosted on goddady

restaurantjacques-cartier.com
restaurantjacques-cartier.com/index.html

I also put index.html because the webserver is not taking index.html but default.html, I always thought index had a higher preference than default. But well, thats not a problem, the real problem is the top banner :(. Can somebody tell me what am i missing?

It appears there because you probably built your page using their website builder or are using the free webhosting that comes with the purchase of a new domain. You can only remove the banner by purchasing a separate hosting account from either godaddy or another hosting company.

use another host. most freehosts do not offer very good standerds unless there very well known and have upgrades that cost becasue they need to get money from somewhere that powers there servers.

Maybe, but the problem is that i didnt buy the domain, I just created the website and the customer bought the domain and he gave me tones of sheets with FTP info. I dont use goDaddy, i use hostmonster fo the hosting of my websites, so I dont have a clue, and goDaddy is really a mess, all the info is not well organized, you have ads everywhere and you dont even know how to attend your specific needs.

What i dont understand is why this customer has this domain also

restaurantjacques-cartier.ws/ which works perfectly, and it comes with godaddy too, but the .com domain is the one with problems...... I think i will tell him to purchase a hosting service so i can get rid of the top banner of the .com domain. thanks a lot for your help guys.

When I did a whois of your site it doesn't have hostmonster as your nameservers.

Domain servers in listed order:
NS51.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
NS52.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

So your domain is not pointing to your site hosted on hostmonster. This could be it...

Of course not, as im telling you, I dont have idea of what the customer did, he just gave me info to upload the website but since i didnt buy the hosting, Im a little confused, cause im not sure if he paid for hosting or if as they said before it comes "free" with the purchase of the domain.

It's free hosting, hence the ads. If you want to temporarily "test" your design without the ads, putting <noscript> at the very end of your page should get rid of them.

But i didn't tell you this.

If your looking for free hosting I would recomend 110mb as i would realy use that if I wanted a free host

If the domain is registered @GoDaddy, you still need hosting. Tell your client that his site cannot be hosted on a free hosting package and bill him for a hosting package. Problem solved :)

You can also remove them with CSS but honestly its only a couple of dollars to get an ad free package. If the site isnt worth that much its probably better to scrap it.

Turning the ads off no doubt breaches their Tos, so its only a short term solution to test your layout and that sort of thing.

Thanks a lot for all the comments because i was really worried i thought i did something wrong. But well, anyways I already took your sugestion I called the customer and I told him what the problem was. I still dont understand some customers if he doesnt have idea of what he is doing or buying, he should have let me to take care of the hosting service for him like any other single customer I have, but no, they always think they know and they can do cheaper, but in the end most of the time is the oposite.

thanks again guys :)

Get yourself a paid for hosting. If it's only a minor site you can get away with a decent package for around 5 $US per month.

Good luck! :)

Because FREE trumps everything else in their eyes.

These are the same people who think that having a Myspace "website" is all they need.
