Hi guys,
m new to hosting. I have a few projects of making websites for some clients. I want to buy some hosting space, should i buy shared or resellers accounts? When they say one can host unlimited domains on a shared hosting space does it mean one can also use it for different clients. As of now i am not interested in just selling domain names and hosting spaces to clients. I need space only to host the website i design for my clients. Can any one suggest me what option should i take?

A reseller account doesn't imply that you have to resell anything.

I would recommend a resellers account which will keep every clients website nice and separate. Otherwise with cPanel and "add-on" domains (which are evil), just avoid that.

Reseller hosting FTW!

What's your budget?

If you are going to host domains for other individuals, I would get a reseller plan. It's not that you "need" a reseller plan to do this, but it makes it easier to manage/administer.

Each domain/client will have their own cPanel with a reseller account whereas you will only have one cPanel account for a shared account and it can be very difficult to do some customizations and change settings by domain if you decide not to go with a reseller plan.

Between Reseller/Shared I would choose Reseller, but you could certainly accomplish your goals with a shared account as well.

thanks, I have been doing my research and seems reseller is my best option. My budget is between $250 and 300 a year. I like reseller 10 plan from 3essentials, but haven't found much abouttheir reviews. It is pretty confusing, some sites offer space for as much as 75$ a month while some offer much more disk space/bandwidth and much more for $9/10 a month. Can you suggest me a good windows reseller plan within my budget.

Every host is different with pricing, there is no such thing as unlimited. If you red other posts on the forum you will note that they have either been asked to pay for an upgraded account package or had the account suspended.

If you looking for the reseller packages then visit the offers section and look in reseller offers.

I suggest a reseller account, it will allow you to setup/sell accounts later on and will allow you a bit more control over things.

As for hosting 'unlimited' domains, you can basically host as many as you want before the server goes kaboom, it just depends on the server specs really. With any decent web host though, you will be able to easily get 20 domains going without a problem.

If you're unsure about a reseller account, perhaps try and find a host that will give you access to a demo reseller, I'm sure there are plenty around the forums.

don't be tricked by the large disc space and bandwidth that most web host will offer because they would most likely be overselling. And one more thing is to always look at their term of service.

Why do u suggest to avoid addon domains?

Reseller plans allow you to host multiple domains. Each domain will generally get its own control panel so you an give it to your client. This allows much greater control for you as well as your client.

Shared hosting does allow you to host multiple domains but each domain will NOT get its own control panel.

So I would say that reseller hosting is recommended.

I think he may mean when wanting to host clients all on the same shared account?
