View Full Version : Cheap webhost for simple site.
million2b 04-17-2008, 11:41 AM I need a host for a simple website.
Am looking at abt 100 visitors per day and abt 500 page visits per day.
A very much text based site with very few images.
Hoping to get the webhost price abt $5 usd or lesser per mth.
Want to pay the hosting fees on a mthly basis rather than yearly or 6mthly.
Have looked up Downtownhost which is well recommended here but its $17/mth which is out of the range I am looking for.
Is there any other host which is of similar credibility and may be lesser space and bandwidth enough to cover my above stated requirements and cost abt Usd$5?
Also understand most 'popular' hosts are overselling and tends to shut you out easily when we use too much of their space and bandwidth. But for a simple site like this, is it safe to assume I will not get into an overuse problem with them?
Do advice/recommend me on the webhosts. Tnks.
I believe your site will not be suspended by those overselling host (if it is static).
However, your site my experience slow loading or other issues as a result of other users on the same server.
Since downtownhost is a little too expensive for you, have you looked at ihubnet or innohosting? ;)
Cirtex 04-17-2008, 11:58 AM Hi,
For what you need basically a static page hosting package, I'd recommend going with any reputable "budget hosts" and make sure they are very supportive and reliable as thats what you need.
Dig around and do some research, Good luck!

How much space/bandwidth do you need?
million2b 04-17-2008, 12:01 PM Have yet to look up ihubnet or innohosting. So are these two reputable close to downtown?
Am currently looking at a1whs. Any comment on that?
David 04-17-2008, 12:07 PM Million2b,
At 100 users a day, you'll be receiving on average 4 per hour -- no provider (unless your site uses some sort of insane cpu) is going to have any issues with that at all.
Here's a few to consider:

http://www.synhosting.com

Enjoy! :)
million2b 04-17-2008, 12:14 PM How much space/bandwidth do you need?
Am not very sure about the figures. Like I said abt 100 visitors per day, and my site very text based with minimal images.
Jedito 04-17-2008, 12:55 PM Then you don't need our "Silver Shared" package (that's what it does cost $17.95 per month) your site should even fit on the "Blog" package which does cost $5.95 per month.
portalgod 04-17-2008, 02:44 PM If you want to try a vps, try Web-wide-hosting.

VPS would be a bit of an overkill for the OP's requirements. A normal webhosting package should suffice ;)
Dan B 04-17-2008, 06:24 PM Do not go with a VPS, especially not one for $5. Downtown host's blog package is perfect for you If you want speed and reliability. Search some coupons ;)
john8 04-17-2008, 10:53 PM I'd suggest go with knownhost's shared hosting plan.
Or go with a normal shared provider (e.g. Hostgator). Your site don't need much space and bandwidth, the cheapest plan is ok.

Is there any difference if i choose your blog package? Cos mine is not exactly a blog. So if I choose the blog package can I still do up my home and webpages on Dreamweaver and upload it?
I believe you can, as they support HTML as well.
Maybe you should just ask them by emailing them to confirm. ;)
Looie 04-19-2008, 11:15 AM Try hostingpuppy.com
ieee488 04-19-2008, 11:18 AM Another host that offers what you need which I am using for a client is http://www.dotable.com
million2b 04-19-2008, 11:21 AM Ok. Tnks. Guess i'll contact them through their site. :)
corzel 04-19-2008, 11:23 AM Check http://www.computinghost.com. They have a "3S" plan 2Gb space, 33Gb BW for $3,33 month.

Not beside of the Space and bandwidth :) Yes, you'll able to upload your pages with dreamweaver. If you have any additional question please contact me off forum because I can't answer "sales" question here due the forum rules.

boonchuan 04-19-2008, 11:40 AM Can I have the domain name that you are hosting with them for verification?

portalgod 04-19-2008, 09:36 PM Check out burstband.net. I hvaen't used them, but they're subsidiary of Spry which I did have a VPS with. They have servers in the same datacenter if I recall.
