View Full Version : Control panels for Windows? Best choice?
hostbox 04-15-2008, 04:10 PM Which control panel do you guys find the most stable under windows for web hosting?
I have checked a few of the websites for windows CP's but their licensing seem like a little bit steep.
I have used Plesk in the past but that's about it.
So far I know/remember:
- HELM
- Plesk win32
- HostingController
Feel free to add more and comment about any of the above.
Ben James 04-15-2008, 04:32 PM personaly i liked plesk
ataylor 04-15-2008, 10:16 PM We primarily use Plesk which is fairly stable, but the recent change in licensing makes it less appealing. A few alternatives we have been looking at include:
DotNetPanel: http://dotnetpanel.com/
HostingController which you already mentioned.
They both seem to be fairly decent and do have a free licensing option for small (10) amounts of domains. Personally I'm looking forward to Windows support from cPanel.
personaly i liked plesk
Another vote for plesk.
Softsys Hosting 04-16-2008, 12:47 AM As ataylor mentioned, DotNetPanel is certainly worth considering with its support for Windows Server 2008 & IIS7.
boonchuan 04-16-2008, 08:10 AM One vote for Hosting Controller, it is one of the oldest controlpanel for Windows and is extremely stable and value for money.
uk1host 04-16-2008, 08:31 AM HELM and Smartermail works well.
1oneHost 04-16-2008, 01:47 PM A vote for Hosting Controller.
I've tried DNP and Helm in past they didn't impress me as much as HC7 did. More importantly their support is out standing.
bigdeal 04-16-2008, 01:53 PM Because of the large array of features and control panel version, Hosting Controller is the best choice. Another good thing about Hosting Controller is the addition of features on a regular basis.
ovais 04-17-2008, 12:30 AM I will vote for DotNetPanel. Lightweight, stable and easy to use.
saimmalik 04-17-2008, 05:10 AM Our Vote goes to HC that is a most reliable and feature rich panel in web hosting industry...
diprog 04-17-2008, 11:40 PM Helm4 is the best
spal911 04-18-2008, 02:09 AM I will vote for Helm4 with GeneFTP and Smartemail. It works like a charm.
PremiumHost 04-18-2008, 11:55 AM One vote for Helm, especially Helm3 is super fast :)
supportoncall 04-18-2008, 01:23 PM Go for Hosting controller , its a clear control panel unlike helm and plesk using DBs.
Saksher 04-18-2008, 06:47 PM My vote is for Hosting Controller, especially its latest version - HC7, which is not only feature rich but very stable as well.
Blessed.
directhostinguk 04-25-2008, 09:45 AM One vote for Helm, especially Helm3 is super fast :)
I found Helm3 slow and very complicated, found DotNetPanel to be fast and very easy to use.
Rubal 04-30-2008, 03:02 PM Helm 4 is complicated but Helm 3 isnt .. Its fast when compared with both DNP and Helm 4 and is very very stable.
pnpatrick 04-30-2008, 09:02 PM Plesk isn't that bad.
I've never heard of the others but I've heard that HostingController was more easier to use than Plesk?
mooodi 05-01-2008, 12:24 PM Evaluate Hosting Controller and Plesk then you 'll able to make right decision.
kazila 05-01-2008, 02:19 PM I know cPanel is suppose to drop their control panel for windows this year. You might want to look out for that ;]
Dwebs 05-05-2008, 05:27 AM Helm 4 all the way.
Plesk isn't multi-server so unless you want a hard time managing your servers its pointless.
Hosting Controller v7 Build 15 is a big step forward but it still has some serious design problems that have been in the software since the early days. We had used 6.1 for 2 years then switched to v7 which we only used for about 7 months due to several security issues that took 10 months to fix lol. It would have been a good CP if it was designed properly the cluster setup is a bit of a joke it isn't real clustering i.e. where you can allocate certain plans to specific servers etc.
Helm 4 even with the lack of w2k8 support at the moment isn't bad, helm 3 is still solid but is starting to show its age i.e. lack of updates etc

You'll be looking forward to it for a long time. They've been advertising Windows support for years now, and nothing has ever come of it.
