we are a company that is looking for a web-based emailing solution, no regular autoresponders. We want to mail out to our entire database (+/- 1,000,000 optinleads) 1-2 times a month. Right now we use our own mail server and the Bulk Mailer Professional software from kroll-software.de. It works good but it takes too much time for a complete mailing to our customers.

I don't think you are going to find a better way than you have now, which is by using your own server. Maybe for such a large list you would want to use two or more servers and split the list up.

Check out providers such as iContact and AWeber - they provide bulk email delivery services - we've worked with both and have good results with them. They provide services for the message delivery, subscription/unsubscription as well as reporting functionality.

These and other similar services are rightly very sensitive about spam, but if you have leads that have legitimately opted in you should be fine.

For 1M emails, your current dedicated solution is good. Or you can split the volume to different servers located at different places of Earth.
