Hello,

My websites' specs are:

Disk Space Usage 1500.08 Megabytes
MySQL Disk Space 51.82 Megabytes
Bandwidth ~110gb/month max

I get about 27,391 visits and 170,386 pageviews per month. Each time a visitor goes to a new category there is mysql connection being made.

I have been hosted on Dreamhost, Site5 and now on Hostgator. I am not satisfied with neither one because: 1. Dreamhost was going down daily for couple hours 2. Site5 has a lot of downtimes & high load averages on the server that take down server daily and they do not care about it since each time they copy & paste the same premade response 2. Hostgator has extremely high load averages that occur daily and slow down mysql connections that in turn slow down my website and it does not seem that they will do anything about it - it also gets frequent time outs due to loads averages.

My website did not cause any problems in shared environments. In fact, I have asked each host to verify my website that it does not take a lot of resources from the server and neither one had any problems with it.

So, I am looking for a web host that has low load averages, is reliable, and its connection is fast. My budget is around $10/month.

Recommendations?

MediaLayer? I do not see there any plan in my budget range that would match my needs I stated above. I do not have a budget for dedicated server.

With your requirements and budget, unfortunately, MediaLayer doesn't seem to be a viable choice. Where are you hosted now? Have you considered asking them for a server change?

I'm hosted on Hostgator and no, I haven't asked to be moved yet.

So the people who recommended me MediaLayer are pretty much spam bots? Ban them!

Browse around the offers section here in WHT and look for a host that fits your needs. Then, search for that company's name and see if you can find some positive reviews and go from there.

110GB sounds like a lot of traffic to be moving for a shared account but if the mySQL connections don't cause a problem then you may get away with a shared hosting account...

To the OP what sort of serverloads are you seeing on the server you're on at hostgator? If they're really high maybe requesting to be put on another server might be an option.

I don't know why people always want to post their "numbers". But account numbers is a really awful way to determine when a server is full. What happens if every person you put on x server is like the OP in terms of traffic? You're unlikely to get as many accounts on the server. Then you need to factor in server specifications. If you go from dual cpu systems to quad cpu I'd hope you'd utilize it more. I also think saying 75% you cut things off is also a bad way of doing things. 75% may work on 1 or 2 cpu systems but what happens when you're dealing with say a 16 way system? You're going to have 4 cpu's going unused. These sort of things should be evaluated server to server as things change from machine to machine.

Load average: 44.05, 37.18, 25.05. Sometimes it gets higher. Now it is under control with averages of 3.

I was told by the support that they have been receiving an attacks on the server. Yesterday, day before yesterday, and so forth I had to go on live support so they could actually dispatch an admin to stop those overloads. I cannot be hosted that way hence this is why I am asking for your help fellow webhostingtalk.com gurus.

Umbrahosting, 110 GB is actually the maximum that it could get - I want to stay on safe side. I'm making under 100GB.

Umbrahosting, I have picked Dreamhost, Site5, and now Hostgator the way you described it - looked for the company that would "satisfy" my needs and read reviews about it. That did not work unfortunately.

Thread cleaned.

The OP is asking for a recommendation. He is not just asking who has a better server load ( e.g. mine is better than yours ) in the world :-)

Thank you for helping WHT stay clean and green :-)

I wouldnt call them spam bots.

You have requested the following:

So, I am looking for a web host that has low load averages, is reliable, and its connection is fast.

to be fair, medialayer is one of the hosts that can provide that

My budget is around $10/month.

Well, this is where your problem is. In order to have low load averages, etc - typically a host sells much smaller packages and at higher prices. I am not sure $10/month will do it. $15-$20 may be more reasonable.

Having said this, take a look at a host like downtownhost. They seem to play in the middle between overselling hosts and application centric hosts - they have nothing but positive reviews, so, they may be a good fit.

Others to consider - ie) hosts that have been around for awhile and have a reputation of providing reliable, performance based services (though I havent checked their plans and am not sure if any of them offer anything for as cheap as $10/month)

digitallyjustified, bluefur, utropicmedia, rochen, httpme, etc
