View Full Version : I'm considering to sell in datacenter chunks...

What do you think about this:

1 datacenter: $2.99/m (which means you can use all the resources of an entire DC)
3 datacenters: $4.99/m
10 datacenters: $9.99/m

I mean realistically...how else are we supposed to attract customers now that every idiot is selling 5000 GB of disk space. If I sell the space in datacenter chunks my customers will probably realize that they get a better deal with me.

Once the others start doing it I will sell "datacenter continent chunk" wise:

All datacenters of the US: $2.99/m
All datacenters of the US & Australia: $4.99/m
All datacenters on the planet: $9.99/m

And hey...if the others sell that I will sell galaxy wise, then universe wise and then I will sell the whole ****ing dimension for a buck.

And just in case someone tops that, too I am going to open up an "all you can stuff in a warehouse that is as big as China"-restaurant.

This industry is so ****ed up now... It makes me sick. I don't understand how you guys can stay calm and cool. A few years and all you "we don't have to worry because we sell on quality, not on price"-hosts will be gone too !! I think I should start selling porn or rob my neighbors or something.

Yeah...and the best about it is if you run out of space you can upgrade to the Milkyway plan for only $12.99 per month ! :agree:

Yeah, I pretty much canned the idea of selling Hosting Space alone. How can I compete with price? I'd always loose of course. So, I began offering the hosting as an add-in service, inclusive with design, training, and other services. I did some specialized hosting service, offering IP Failover services for redundancy. Never quite found a niche for that specialized service. But, I haven't given up... whenever I hear a report of a web service going down, I immediately draft and email and suggest Failover / Round Robin / solutions. I have found that most folks don't want to hear about special uptime hosting packages like Failover, so I remain -- back in the saddle -- with core services in Design and Training. Hosting for me is has become a convenient way to shut off the account if they don't pay me in full for design!!
