xstreamhost stole the demo Cpanel I made and never bothered to change any of the links, or remove the tracker code.
So everytime someone clicks on a link, they are taken to my site.

about once a month i check sites linking to any of my sites by entering: link:http://www.mydomainname.com in google or altavista (altavista, for some reason outperforms the normally superior google with this kind of search).

occasionally, i will find people who have stolen articles i've written, or images i've designed.

one time i caught a university professor using much of my material to teach his course (his student was posting his "handouts" on the web. the handouts were word-for-word my material). i emailed the professor, but he didn't answer. i emailed the university dean's office. he investigated my claim, responded with an apology, and made the offending professor respond with an apology as well.

of course, the alternative for the professor could have been federal charges for copyright infringement.

but i was in a good mood that day.

did you find out about xtreams the same way, or by checking logs?

the-muse, I found out because he never bothered to remove the webstats code that I use to track my site with. So yes, he shows up quite a bit in my log files.

Definitely redirect that to your homepage :D. It's bad enough that some people like to steal content, but it's even worse with those who link to the webspace of the item(s) they stole, people really have some nerve :mad:.

Sorry about that, some people where asking for a little demo and I was in a hurry so I 'liberated' your demo and threw it on my site. I know that is no excuse for my laziness but I am really sorry.

I have removed it from my site now. I agree that in this day an age not a lot of people use originaly made stuff like pics, demos, etc. And what I did is a prime exaple of it.

Thanks for pointing out my stupidity. And it won't happen again.

I personally like the name.. I mean know there are prob some prudes out there who have nothing else to babble about but I mean if I was looking for for hosting and the deals seemed good who cares.. I would have to say I think the name would appeal to alot of 18-25 years olds where I would not see any issue and men of all ages.. Its quick, catchy and funny so I dont see what everyone makes such a big deal about.. the world has alot more important things to do that worry about stuff like this.. It's shagadelic.. :laugh:

btw: i also think alot of ex-hippies would enjoy the name..

IMO, the name is more suited to adult hosting etc. But I wish them the best of luck. At least you won't forget them. :D

well i`m not a prude ,i like the name it is very catchy ,dont know if i would like to see it on my bank statement though.
i just asked because my customers are all business type people and i`m pretty sure the name would prevent them from signing up.
as you say it could however attract a lot of 18-25 yr olds .
as a further point under my own tos i would not allow that domain on my server it falls under adult orientated/lewd or obscene material

Call me stupid, but I do not understand. What is Shag? What is bad about it? We have care sales on NationalTv and teh cherecter there is ShagMan. Never figured that out.
