My site is very small and traffic is low.
I am using Dreamhost. It is the worst hosting I have ever used.
Please recommend a reliable sharing hosting to me.
Thanks.

I would look for a hosting company that does not oversell their servers and offers reasonable disk space and bandwidth allotments.

Also, be sure to check the host's uptime and search for reviews of them on this forum to ensure that they are of the quality that you expect.

What are your needs in space and bandwidth?

That is the shared hosting forum, browse there and look for an offer that interests you and then perform a search here for reviews.

Contact the companies you decide to seriously look at and ask them every question you can think of, if they can provide you with a lot of good information it's likely that they will provide you with a higher level of support.

Thank you "Net".

My site includes a forum and a blog. That means I need two Mysql databases and PHP.

Pageviews is only around 11000/month so it's a very small site, but I have some very loyal forum members.

I don't know how to manage a server otherwise I will order a VPS. I used godaddy VPS two years ago but don't know how to update PHP then stopped using it one year later.

Right now I am one year into 2-year hosting program at Dreamhost and can't bear it.

Please suggest a solution for me. Thanks a lot.

Have you checked into hostgator or lunarpages?

With a small & low traffic site, a normal shared hosting account will be sufficient.

Please do not get virtual dedicated server or dedicated server if you are totally clueless on how to manage them. It will created unwanted stress to you. On top of that, you have to pay extra dollar to get a server admin to manage the server for you..

Feature & cost wise, a normal shared hosting account will be more than enough.

Hope this helps.

A few questions in order to help clarify what exactly you're looking for:

1) What is your realistic budget? Please remember "you get what you pay for".

2) If you login to your DreamHost account, how much disk space are you currently using? What's your web traffic/bandwidth per month?

3) I'm not sure if you're aware but there are fully managed VPS providers which will handle PHP for you. Of course these providers usually start around $40/mo+

I don't think there's a need for a VPS. Likely, you don't even need expensive shared hosting.

One single thread like this tends to bring up a limited number of provider names, and this would unnecessarily limit your options. My suggestion to you would be to take the time to also browse a good number of threads in the current forum section and jot down any hosting company that anyone recommends, and could fit your needs on paper. Then do further research on each company (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php) to see if the recommendation is supported by most other people's testimonies. Don't be afraid to toss a coin when you find yourself incapable of deciding. A bit of luck is always needed anyway. :)

I would think you could get by with a shared hosting solution. While many shared hosts offer great pricing I would take a look at 3dgwebhosting.com. I am using them for shared, VPS, SharePoint, and Dynamics 4.0 and their customer services is superb. I have used many good shared hosts but the level of customer service and individual attention offered by 3dg is something special.

I agree with Dan here. But I think that everyone would like others run around him. That's why such kind threads appears.

(1) My budget is no more than $50/month. could be up to $100/month.
(2) Average BW usage is around 10GB/month and Disk Usage is around 5GB.

I know there are a lot of shared hosting. But my visitors mainly are from Asia. Most NA hosting have bad and slow connection to Asia.

I can afford no more than $100/month for very good connection for Asians. I can't go to Asian hostings because of safety, law, etc concerns.

If you know any stable and fast connection to Asia, please recommend.
If you are a hosting provider, please send me a client website and I will ask my friend in Asia to test the speed.

Thanks for help.

$50 a month is alot for what your looking for. Maybe 5-15 Dollars maximum. Do you have a control panel in mind?

cpanel is better than plesk, but it isn't a big issue if the speed to Asia is OK.

Have you tried AS-Hosted? They have some good plans, I used them a year or so ago and they where extremely helpful.

How about Aussiehost or dotable - same guy I think (Aussie Bob). Servers in Australia might suit you in Asia.

Hello,

I see you re-enabled your site without letting me know. Your site was
still causing a high load

granola: 05:11 PM# uptime

17:11:27 up 19 days, 13:57, 4 users, load average: 98.20, 85.21, 91.15

And once I disabled your site:

granola: 05:18 PM# uptime

17:18:44 up 19 days, 14:04, 4 users, load average: 13.15, 48.47, 73.94

I went through your logs and I didn't see any unusual requests going to
your site, so it seems you're just getting a lot of traffic, or your site
is written poorly. Did you follow those links I gave you the first time
to find your heavy usage?

Please don't enable your site again without letting me know what steps
you've taken to reduce your usage. If your site causes the server to
become slow or unstable again I'll have to disable it from our side so
you can't turn it back on until you can show us that this won't happen
again.

most dotable servers in CA, and not all parts of Asia have good connections to Australia I believe

When you sign up for dotable you can choose to be on an Australian or US server.
