Hello. Recently I've run into some DDOS issues and looking to move the site to a new host. My host has been GREAT, but I feel they just don't have the knowledge or precautions in place to deal with this. I've read a lot on the net on things they can install at the server level to take care of these issues, but I don't think they have done this or plan to. My site has been down for over a month now with no resolution in place or no plan from them. It's not a huge site or anything just an automotive enthusiast invision forum. (so basically I need mysql and php, a plesk CP would be a plus as well)
Here's the last 6 months traffic usage:
Year Month Traffic usage
2007 May 16,614 MB
2007 June 16,486 MB
2007 July 15,027 MB
2007 Aug 12,252 MB
2007 Sept 10,802 MB
2007 Oct 12,506 MB
And for storage I'm looking for maybe 3GB or so. Only uses probably half that, but would like room to expand.
Could anyone recommend a host with DDOS experience or with apps installed for protection? And although it is only a single site, I would prefer a reseller plan because I will probably add other sites as time goes on. I need this site back up ASAP please help!

You can use search button or try this link (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/hostquote.php) to request hosting quote for high risk ddos website
There are several ways to mitigate effects of ddos attack from your end.
Normally, most hosting providers would suspend your website if ddos attack causing too much trouble.

Do you have any idea how large your attacks are? Does your host tell you?

You might want to get a dedicated server from theplanet, they offer ddos protection.

Hello,
What types of attacks are you receiving? I'd take a look at SecureServerTech.com, they have some pretty good DDoS filtering from what I hear. As for The Planet, I wouldn't go with them unless you're receiving a large attack that isn't against the HTTP service, as the Cisco Guard won't do much for small attacks nor will it do much against HTTP floods.

I'm not really sure that a DDoS host as you call it or a host that offers DDoS protection is the right solution.
You see, there simply isn't such a term as prevention or protection, the fact that they use it makes me think that they either know nothing about dealing with such sophisticated attacks or they are just creating an image of themselves in the eyes of the consumer audiance.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Hosts that offer ddos protection could be capable of stopping small and insignificant attacks. In the event when an attack hasn’t taken down a website, but is causing occasional connectivity problems for the visitors this host will probably eliminate the threat, but what happens when they face massive and sophisticated attacks?
Will such a host be able to mitigate the DDOS attack?
I recommend to people that are victims of such attacks to go for another option. Choose a company that has an established credibility and has been known for and specializes in providing DDoS mitigation services.
Such companies are not just relying on a single hardware device or method in order to mitigate incoming attacks. By choosing a company of this type people can be sure their uptime is guaranteed because these type of companies are performing various procedures in order to protect the client's infrastructure.
They constantly filter traffic based on the attack fingerprint, and post the offending IP addresses, which prevents the attack from crippling the site. Comparing the clean traffic patterns with the incoming traffic is what enables them to determine and distinguish the clean traffic from the malicious one.

Theplanet offers protection if the attack is intense they switch off your server for only 12 hours.
