Hi there - have searched but not found much on this...
I'm wondering what are the best ways to go for antivirus, firewall and IDS on a Win2K box.
Budget is an issue :)
Your suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Joseph

Sygate Personal Firewall is great but only works at present (properly) with one Network Card and one IP address (i havn't found a software firewall that does however). If that isn't a problem then i can wholeheartedly recommend it.

we had luck with TinyPersonal Firewall. Other than that you might want to take a look at deerfield's Visnetic firewall. Its specially built as a software firewall for windows servers

I am using it on my workstation & dsl traffic... pretty good I would say :)
ps. don't think it's the perfect choice for the servers and stuff, but for personal workstation it works great

Hi there - yes, ZoneAlarm (free version) is for personal workstations.
Are there any free (or <$100) software firewalls for Win2K servers?
Thanks in advance

You can get really far with IPSec already in Windows. Takes a bit of practice to get used to, but very powerful for locking down a server.

Isn't IPSec used for VPNs rather than firewalling?

Sure, can definitely be used to secure VPN traffic, but its also a very effective way to control what gets in and out of your machine.
One of many links on the subject: http://www.analogx.com/contents/articles/ipsec.htm

JDMundo - thanks for the great links.
DigiCrime - at what price though?
Does anyone else have experience / comments re IPSec to secure a Win2K box?
Thanks again for the help

I second this, I have BlackICE Server setup on my Win2k server box here at home and it works well :)
