View Full Version : Sad but true
appletreats 08-20-2002, 12:22 AM Approximately one week ago I did 60 sit ups.
As a result I had muscle pain and was unable to walk upright for a week. I wanted abs of steel but I guess I will have to settle for a hernia.
Any of you have SAD BUT TRUE stories?
-treats, who wonders if this is what GeoCities means when they disclaim warranties of fitness
-treats, who wonders if the above comment makes any sense at all

60 situps I don't believe is a lot...unless you do the 60 in about 60 seconds.

I said it was sad.
IGobyTerry 08-20-2002, 12:31 AM I did 73 in gym once. I hated those damn fitness tests that they always made us take. Especially when you'd have this hot girl watching the long jump, and I can't jump worth crap. They'd always be like "SWING YOUR ARMS" but nope I wouldn't. I'd just jump a whole like 3 feet
appletreats 08-20-2002, 12:34 AM <insert sexual joke about hot girl here>
sorry, it's late. i can't make one up myself.
archie2 08-20-2002, 01:30 AM I believe 60 situps was what they made us do in elementary school :)
mas3000 08-20-2002, 03:03 AM  I can't remember the last time I did 60 situps. Heh, how could you not walk upright for a week?

Skeptical 08-20-2002, 09:14 AM I'm almost afraid to ask what happens when you have sex with a girl!!

I'm quite good at long jump  .. i can jump just over 5 meters...... but my technique sucks.... but 5 meters is good for me  ...
I once did 500 sit ups (without stopping) just to see if I could do it. I can't stand being out of shape. It is much easier to stay in shape than to have to get back in shape.
60 sit ups is sad. You should have waited one day, (two max) then did 60 more. By now you would be in somewhat better shape than if you did none at all.
NetXL 08-20-2002, 10:19 AM 60 sit-ups? I'd be lucky to get there. I'm quite unfit :(

Good, I beat someone. Ha!
XTStrike 08-20-2002, 10:57 AM aye 60 a day is ok, i do 60 of a morning before i goto work and 60 when i get back, followed by as many ab crunches as im capable of, then 20 press ups a short go with the weights to keep my arms in shape
All takes about 30 mins, get a shower then relax, sometimes ill got for a 6 1/2 mile bike trek (my usual journey) if the weather is ok, ill usually try and finished that in just over 25 mins (yeah slow i know)
Im no way in super shape, but ive only sharted this a few months back and can already see in imprevement.
Keep up with it, best way to kick someones ass if such an action is required :D

rockergrrl 08-20-2002, 11:01 AM Some tips..
When you first start working out -- especially when you haven't done it in a long time...
START OUT SLOW!
And then work up.
Start out with 10 -- maybe two reps of 10 (20 situps) -- that's day 1.
Day #2: 20 situps (straight through - no separate reps)
And so on...
When you haven't done a situp in a long time, DON'T do 60 situps in one sitting. You'll end up hurting yourself -- pulling muscles, etc.
And never work out (even situps) without stretching first -- at least 10 minutes before. You'll do more damage than good by NOT stretching before you workout.
In high school, I did 500 situps/day. 250 in the morning before school, and 250 before I went to bed. And in between that, I was in sports and running at least 3 miles/day (and working out).
stretch... Stretch.... STRETCH!!
"Personal Trainer" Tonya signing off... ;)
Advice above isn't the advice from a certified personal trainer. Always consult your physician before attempting to work out or diet. Yadda Yadda Yadda... legal mumbo jumbo.. etc etc etc... :D

They weren't work out situps, they were I'm-bored-so-lets-do-something situps.
But your plan intrigues me. At the very least it gives me a less injury-prone way to stop boredom.
I was at the doc a month ago to find out im the proud owner of a baby hernia lol
To much weight lifting I guess.
Oh well not a big deal there are worse things that could happen.
rockergrrl 08-20-2002, 11:10 AM lol
Either way... ;)
Makes you less injury prone though.
But I'm not one to talk right now, though... I've totally lost the body that I once had when I was in high school. Kids will do that to you. :bawling:

I will be sure not to get pregnant. I suspect it will be very easy to avoid.
rockergrrl 08-20-2002, 11:13 AM Check out my edit on the advice post... :)
I couldn't resist! :D
I sure hope you don't get pregnant... I would really start wondering... I'd really be scared to be exact! LOL
