Darth 08-19-2002, 10:26 PM WAMPP is cool :) so is lampp :D
Is your network firewalled?
Does the server have it's gateway defined?

I have checked , and all firewalls are down
smidwap 08-19-2002, 11:04 PM There is WinPanel I believe, or at least I think that is what it is called. I'm not sure if it is cheap though. It seems to me you are running fine without a control panel. :)
Is your server on the internet or on an intranet? I'm not at all a hardware expert, but I'm going to try to give this one my best shot. In other words, is your server directly on the internet or is it connected to a router? My computer I am using right now is connected to a router, therefore, no one could connect to it say via ftp out of my home.

yes it is , I have 5 computers here anfd i have to have a router... Is this the problem ? and how can i go around it ?

Yes that is the problem:) By using a router your computer can not communicate directly with the internet. In order for your server to work you will need to setup port forwarding on the router. I suggest you take a look at the documentation for your router on how to setup port forwarding. You will need at minimum port 80 forwarded for your http server. If you are going to be running FTP you should also be forwarding port 21.
Ivan23 08-19-2002, 11:26 PM hummm, thanks ....
I'll try this out ....first thing in the morning
smidwap 08-19-2002, 11:54 PM Woohoo! Me the one who knows nothing about hardware (let along routers) just hit it right on the nail. ;)
Actually, I am so bad at networking, that I am trying to connect a computer that I haven't used for about 2 months to the internet and I just randomly picked a port from the router and unplugged it so I could plug that computer in. See what I mean?
Remind me to never ever have a job in the field of networking. :D
archie2 08-20-2002, 12:33 AM I just networked up a wireless network, its really easy
all you need is a normal linksys router
if you have static ips you need to know them and specify them in windows
if you have dhcp , you don't need to do anything other then hooking the plug in
Darth 08-20-2002, 09:04 AM I want a wireless network :)

I woudl liek one too...
But it's reliability is really bad =/
davidb 08-21-2002, 01:09 AM Better then just setting ports to forward, or easier(this is asuming that you are using a router that gives you private ip's internally, and you have one public ip) you should have a DMOZ(demilitoriez zone(sp)), that opens all ports on one of your comps/
Ivan23 08-21-2002, 03:17 AM IT WORKS !!! THANKS GUYS ...
