I would like to either add or modify some of the pre-installed scripts (guestbook, banner.. etc.) or add new scripts that I feel my clients need more... would luv to make PHB2 the default forum instead of XMB... hmm.. i wonder which is best...

Even a new mailing list script would be nice to implement... so many kewl things...

thanx in advance...

Hmm...I have never heard of this being done before, but then again, there are a lot of things I haven't heard. :D

It's been done before. I'm trying to figure it out myself, as clients don't really like the (largely lame) cgi scripts that are included with cpanel. I'd love to add phpbb and a couple other cool things. A better and less resource intensive program than Mailman for mailing lists would be awesome as well.

I don't know if this will help, but you might try asking this question on the CPanel forum here: http://forums.cpanel.net/

Or you all can get rid of CPanel and format the disk and install just the OS, httpd, Proftpd and a nice MTA like courier or qmail or postfix! Well I am only half-joking .. :)

You should take a look at Fantastico (http://www.cpanelthemes.com/fantastico.html), which includes the following scripts for your customers to easily install:

b2 (Weblog) NEW!
OS Commerce 2.2 (ex The Exchange Project)
phpBB2
4images Gallery
PHPauction
PHProjekt
PHP-Nuke
Post-Nuke
phpLinks
phpWebSite (english version)

We're using a similar script and have found it to be more appealing with the new PHP scripts than the standard CGI scripts that CPanel include with their control panel.

yep fantastico is good we use it and was really easy to install, problem is every time you update cpanel you have to re-add the link to the fantastico panel - but no big deal :)

Yes, it can be done. I'm working on it now. I've removed most of the default cgi scripts that Cpanel installs, and I working on adding new ones. So far I've got InvisionBoard just about ready.

Just a note though, make all your changes on a new skin. If you try to edit one of the default skins all of your work will be written over when Cpanel updates. Trust me, I know. :D

You can get out of that by renaming the skin :D

I would like to see some of your work on invisionboard, if you'd be inclined to share a bit. Maybe i'm just being thick, but I can't seem to wrap my head around customizing the scripts.

I'm on vacation this week (and sick as a dog  ) so I should have some extra time to work on it. Basickly I copied a theme, renamed it, and took out all the calls to the preinstalled cgi scripts. Now I'm trying to finish up work on the install script for InvisionBoard. I've got a working install script set up on a domain. Now I just need to modify the script to work in Cpanel and get the information it needs (username, script location, etc) from the Cpanel functions. I'll keep you updated.
