Cogent offers 100Mbps for $1000.00 monthly?????????

But no providers come close to this offer, where can you find cogent bandwidth for 100Mbps at no more than $2,000.00

Cheapest ive found is $3000.00 per 100Mbps, thats a 2k mark up!!!!!!!!!!

Any providers supply it for lower costs, in the 2k for 100Mbps range??

Actually, Cogent's price is $3000.00 for 100 Mbps for service providers.

Maybe you should do a search, for the 1000th time the current cost to ISP's/hosters is $3000/100Mbps... so if someone is reselling to you for $3000/100Mbps or less, they're likely violating their contract with Cogent.

or just overselling... lol

i was wondering... if i got a cogent feed for $1000/month and used it for only some of my own personal sites, would it be allowed? because i wouldn't be reselling the bandwidth, but i would be hosting off it... heh

btw, it doesn't mean i like cogent... just means that i have a truly sh*tty purpose for this bandwidth... lol...

hmm,, must be overselling then, which means they are out of question:)

Not paying for something i cant actually use.
Well how close could i expect to come per Mbps for cogent bandwidth,,
The best ive found was 40.00 per mbps, is that a fair rate? Assuming the datafacility is descent with good support.

Given their cost is $30, I say $40 is a very fair rate. Good luck!

$40 would be hopeful I'd say.

$1000/100mbs is for businesses just using it for normal internet usage for their staff etc

$3000/100mbs is for ISPs (unfortunately!) ;)

Is there anyway to buy Cogent in lower numbers, such 10 MPS connection, hell that would equal out to $100 using their 100mps for $1000 equasion. I would love to have a 10MPS drop right into my house :)

LOL,,

3000 a month is not bad,,, but supplying the routers, connections,e tc. would add up,, and my house would burn down:)

Afraid not, minimum Cogent commitment to a building has to be 1000mbps.

Let's not forget the $3500 setup fee. I bet it cost even more for them to build out to your building.

So, what if you signed up for http://www.cogentco.com/Access/real_estate.html and your "tenants" just happened to be 1U racks?

I was unaware of these great prices for Cogent, I'm going to see if I can get my apartment complex to buy into a fiber rollout! :)

Replace crappy cable modem access with a Cogent link for 25% the cost!

Has anyone asked Cogent for a bid on a Gig-e lately. Last we heard it was $20k, now were hearing 30k. Anyone else heard the same?

dude... cogent ain't braindead... they don't go into a building if they can't make money there... (o wait, they do ... with what, 2-3 clients per building? LOL)
