View Full Version : Just signed up for 2checkout.com
Hi yall.. nice forum.. gr8 community,
Im new to this hosting business and I just signed up with 2checkout.
Then I got on to their forum.. wow they seem to be going through loads of problems lately.
And the way the staff respond or dont respond in the forum... seem a bit off for a company offering a serious service that involves money.
Does anyone have good stories about them? Im sure there are. I just need to hear some +ve news right now.. lol.
And I have another question with regards to recurring credit charges....
How does clients respond to recuring charge for yearly paid hosting term?
Heck how does clients respond to monthly recuring credit card charges as well?
Love to hear from you guys out there. :)
Akash 08-19-2002, 11:12 AM Personally I can only offer a bad review. It would be down sporadically, reports would be lost, etc.
I'd go for the 30day money back guarantee and go for hostcharge.com :)
JSpired 08-19-2002, 12:20 PM On the flipside, I've had no trouble at all with 2checkout. I don't visit the forums, but every email I've sent to Support has been responded to in a timely manner.
Recurring monthly billing is handled automatically and requires no action on the part of the buyer. Not sure about recurring yearly billing, but I would imagine it's handled the same way.
jhcashman 08-19-2002, 12:24 PM wow host charge is cheaper then 2checkout? Do you have to be a host to use them?
hmmm hostcharge seems to be a 1 man operation.. and they are not cheaper than $49.00 setup & 5.5% commission + $0.45 per transaction...
akashd.. are u Asher Saeed.. sorry just couldnt help wondering.
Wire.. nice to hear yourr +ve comments..
what i meant is... would people actually sign up for yearly recurring as vs monthly recurring....
besides wont that be too long a time.. CC can go bust..etc... lol

did I say hostcharge was cheaper than 2checkout
as far as pricing goes, hostcharge has 3 different levels...if don't want to pay a fee (setup or monthly), they take 8%,
if you don't mind paying $4 per month ($48 per year) they take 4.5% + $0.75
You get what you pay for :)

neither, I'm Akash :)
Do you have to be a host to use them?
I don't think so...that'd be a question to ask sales@
Paul_9cy 08-19-2002, 02:56 PM Never had a problem with 2checkout allways been working and realible... The only real outage was a week ago I think but they gave me an email about it and had a temp page explaing about it. It was a server move....
Don't know about anyone else but there doing great for me allways where quick to answer support questions or troubles.
seg fault 08-19-2002, 03:23 PM Had my fair share of problems - but I think they know their weakpoints and are doing what they can do fix it up
ForumsAddict 08-19-2002, 03:33 PM I had been working for a hosting company which had 2checkout merchant access. It seems that these guys have too many ppl to handle and sometimes things get out of their hands but they do try their best to keep every one happy.
paysystems or hostcharge would be a better choice once you have signups on daily basis.
tribby 08-19-2002, 03:56 PM 2checkout has been working very well for us. I've only had to contact support a couple of times, and got pretty fast responses.
jhcashman 08-19-2002, 04:12 PM my bad i missed the monthly fee part... :stickout

As far as I know, they're not a 1-man operation. =)
okihost 08-19-2002, 06:16 PM We have used 2checkout for almost a year now and I can say they have been pretty good or 99.9% uptime you might say.. never really noticed any problems and when i did they seemed to be pretty responsive.. the only issue i have ever had with them is having them double check orders for me which a couple of times I had orders that looked a little iffy and asked them to double check.. did not get a response from them for 4-5 days and all i got was "phone rang to ansering machine" and "phone goes to pager voicemail" so I ended up doing it myself.. other than that I give them two thumbs up.
hey tks guys.. i feel much better now :)
btw.. what are your customers' response to yearly recurring charge for hosting. i plan to charge only 10 months for that.. Would they bite?.. subject to price/features/faclilties obviously :D. I also will have monthly recurring of course.
Would like to hear how receptive are customers to yearly recurring or should i scrap it ?
smidwap 08-19-2002, 10:10 PM Well, you should always offer yearly paid hosting. It is more revenue up front, which is always good. Some people prefer to pay yearly, however if you are not at least a "known" hosting company, future customers may not take the risk of paying yearly.
Darph Bobo 08-19-2002, 10:23 PM I can vote for 2checkout as well. They have only been down one time that actually affected me, and it was just a short outage.
Also, I have had quite a few people sign up for my yearly plans, so I say go for it.
Asher S 08-20-2002, 08:12 AM Please! Before posting something SO absurd like 'HostCharge seems to be 1 man operation', think twice!
Do you have any idea how many people actually work for hostcharge? Do you have any idea how many offices we have? Do you know how many programmers work for us? Do you know our people in accounting? Simply because I handle most of the threads at WHT doesnt mean that hostcharge is a 1 man operation. Our reps are busy handling actual support and keeping our system up rather than spending their time on WHT.
So please, do not post such nonesense like that in a forum like WHT.
Asher.
wow sounds real defensive to me... relax buddy... i just asked a simple question....
of course its just my 2 cents.. lol
tks smidwap & Darph..
yes i think its better to offer yearly as an option rather than not.
TrevorM 08-21-2002, 05:50 AM i work for hostcharge, make that at least a 2 man operation :stickout :D ;) :) :cartman:
